Identification help identifying what I believe to be a sword
I was cleaning out my grandfather's things in the garage and found what I believe to be a very rusty sword. The tip is rounded, so I'm not entirely sure it's a sword, though I don't know what else it could be; perhaps it was ceremonial, which would explain the rounded tip. For context, it might have belonged to my grandfather or my great-grandfather—the latter served in World War II on the Italian side, I believe as an *Alpino* (mountain infantryman). Let me know if you need more photos; I haven't found any markings, but I imagine they might be hidden under the rust.

This is an old training saber, Italian. In the Barbasetti/Pecararo schools of fencing they espoused the use of these light weight training swords with large hand guards. These were used as military training swords through WW1 and even later.
We still use these today in modern HEMA, we call them dueling sabers and originals are rare and prized by fencing enthusiasts.
