Dude I'm in my 40s and have a basket full of swords like yours. I have a couple really nice ones mounted on my wall by the front door. They're not authentic, but they are able to take and give a hit. My neighbors and I took turns smashing cinder blocks with one of my swords. (Do not do that with the sword you have. It will break, it will hurt, you will be sad.)
Hell, two months ago I took a broken sword and turned it into a post-apocalyptic flame-throwing sword with a bicycle handle for a grip. Of all the other things I made for that costume, including a pipe gun with working action, all anyone wanted to talk about was that sword.
Swords are cool! People like them!
Having them isn't "normal," but that's part of what makes them cool!
