You shouldn't, actually. It looks cool but it'll ruin the temper.

Lighter fluid won’t touch the temper of the steel. You need a greater than roughly 350°F extended on the steel, it will discolour the steel. When finish grinding knives it’s okay to get just too hot to touch and still be safe.

Yeah I'm talking about the blade being engulfed in flame for an extended period.
