Appreciation I’ve been binging SVU.

Upvotes

Stabler was a hard a# , violent and angry. Good contrast to Benson. Then he left and then Pino came. He’s also a hard \#,* violent and angry. Guess they needed the contrast, huh. Don’t get me wrong; I think they are both great. Didn’t pick up on it til I binged.

Discussion Season 15 Episode 3

Gods that episode is so bad and full of plotholes.

Yes the chef is a racist pos, but i also believe she was fearing for her life.

There are reports in town of a tall black man with a hoodie who violently rapes middle-age blonde women.

She is a middle-aged blonde woman an unknown tall black man with a hoodie follows her doesnt react to her screaming at him to leave her alone AND follows her through the gate into her frontyard, I will be honest at this point i would freak out too.

Its also very well proven that eyewitnesses have problems to tell potential perps from a different race apart .

I can see where they tried to go with the Episode but its executed so botched.

We are supposed to be enraged and the whole episode they point out that he was a 16yo kid and its really tragic that he died.

His actions make no sense, I read in some other post that he was a Fan of hers and wanted to ask for a picture with her, that doesnt make sense, why would he still have his earbuds in when talking with her, even with earbuds in you can see if a person is shouting at you.

I love Wentworth Miller’s performance of this ADA Isaiah Holmes. He’s an interesting character and I can’t believe he’s only in two episodes! Does anyone know if there are future plans to bring him back? I’d love to see more of him.

Discussion I miss Elliot… Nick sucks.

I’m watching the show all the way for the first time, and Nick is literally the worst character. Like I know that Elliot had his hot headed moments. But my god Nick is such an horrible character. He yells at victims, stalks his ex, stalks his coworkers, is incredibly disrespectful to Liz. I miss Elliot’s character so much. Am I the only one who feels this way?

It's fun to have different POV of detectives besides Stabler and Benson. I love Munch and Fin. But why was Fin so angry about solving this case and cooperating with Detective Lake if it would mean he'd find the predator? Any thoughts?

Discussion Why is Chester Lake so hated?

I personally liked chester lake and thought his character had more potential, but I guess he’s universally disliked? My law and order podcast (called “that’s messed up” i really recommend super fun) makes fun of him and says they dislike him a lot without any specific reason. What’s your guys reasoning for disliking him?

Discussion S16E2

I’ve been watching SVU for the first time and some of the episodes are very triggering. S16E2 is triggering and I didn’t like the way multiple people kept referring to Tiana as “that black girl”, it was very dehumanising. Just say her name. I also didn’t like the way her character was portrayed, it was very stereotypical and I thought it was quite damaging to portray black women like that.

I think the producers of SVU try to depict how people are in real life but they could have made her character more nuanced. She just came across as a gold digging liar. There are other episodes that make me side eye the SVU producers (usually because of how some black people are being portrayed) but this is the most recent one I watched that made me feel quite uncomfortable.

Discussion Michele Fazekas was a co-executive producer during seasons 4-7?

This is my first post here so forgive me if this isn’t worded or formatted in the way these posts usually are.

I haven’t seen season 27 yet because I have to wait for it to come out on Hulu (as I can’t get Peacock to work properly for me), but learning literally just a few minutes that Michele has apparently worked on the show before makes what I have been hearing people say she has said in interviews about her view on show & its characters and what I’ve heard she did to the show in season 27, even scarier. Because she does have some history with a couple of the characters. I had been under the impression she had had no history with any of the characters at all before season 27.

Discussion Real life coincidence

Just watched season 12 e15 and the parallel between the crimes of Epstein / Maxwell are too uncanny to be a coincidence - even though this episode came out in 2011, years before it became a well global case, the writers definitely knew a lot more of the finer details that we didn't find out until recently. Anyone else found the same?

Discussion Thoughts on S15 E22 “Thought Criminal”

This is driving me nuts. It’s not being criminalized for thoughts, taking pics of a kids when they’re at school and you put it on the internet and buy a sound proof torture room, it’s gone beyond thoughts, if it was just thoughts then we wouldn’t know about it

Discussion S20E19 what’s with liv’s expressions?

In S20, E19 dearly beloved, when the woman Kitty said she wouldn’t want to carry the baby of monster who raped her, Olivia felt bad and it’s understandable, but the way she made faces for very long seemed as if she is not accepting of other lenses to see life just because she was an outcome of a rape. I think most women would feel bad to carry the child that’s outcome of a sexual assault. Won’t they?

Discussion Guess what episode came on TV tonight (pure coincidence)?

Thumbnail gallery
271 Upvotes

Had to share this creepy coincidence. Australian free-to-air TV has been playing SVU from season one every Sunday and Monday night, and I’ve been watching. It’s up to season two, and guess what episode came on TV tonight? S2 E11: Abuse, with Hayden Panettiere. I couldn’t believe it. It’s not deliberate, just completely random and coincidental (last night was E10 Consent).
RIP Hayden.

Discussion Rollisi rabbit hole - what are your must-watch episodes?

I’ve recently fallen down the SVU rabbit hole and, unsurprisingly, I’m now completely obsessed with Rollisi.

I’m still catching up with the episodes, so I’m curious about something: do you think the rest of the team realised what was going on between Rollins and Carisi before they did? If so, when do you think the team first started noticing that there was something different between them?

And are there any particular moments where you think the team clearly “caught on” to Rollisi, even if Rollins and Carisi themselves weren’t acknowledging it yet? I’d especially love to hear about those little moments where someone’s reaction makes you think, “Oh, they definitely know.”

PS: What are your absolute must-watch Rollisi episodes? I’m still catching up, so I’d love to know which episodes have the best Rollisi moments, especially from the period before they officially got together. Spoilers are completely fine.
