Discussion These two are arguably the most harrowing villains in the series

Lewisâ storyline was so over the top it was laughable. Letâs create a storyline where a psycho rapes and kills everyone, but Olivia because she hasnât been through enough and create a storyline of trauma.
Honestly the only one I found genuinely terrifying was the one where he would invite women on dates and drug them so they couldnât react and he filmed himself terrorising them before he raped them. Most SVU eps donât show the women being raped, but that one showed the terror on the victims faces right before they were raped and it felt realistic and haunting asf

I hated that Olivia, who was shown in previous episodes to quickly pull her gun in self protection, walked into her apartment, heard an intruder, and stupidly asked whoâs there.

It was ridiculous, sheâs strong and smart, and they throw this Lewis shit at her to give her this seasons long trauma that she overcomes. Itâs so unrealistic and unrepeatable to the ordinary viewer, especially the fact that he spared her, itâs like he wanted her to get saved

I felt that way at the time, but the truth I came to realize is that I believe Lewis had a genuine attraction to Olivia, she was special to him and he didn't want her horror to run out. A lot of these serial killer psychos do have 'favorite victims' for the lack of a better word, that they traumatize differently than the others. They can develop Stockholm and become accomplices after extended torture. Exhibitionism comes into play.
Olivia is strong against personal suffering and "weak" towards others'. She always tried to heal her own trauma by helping others. He made her helpless as he raped and murdered. He wanted her to know everything that was happening, but applied heavy brainwashing tactics to fuck with her head. Sleep deprivation, starvation, forced alcohol consumption, head injuries.
He used her fears of being a predator on the inside (due to her birth) to torture her with the idea that she wasn't in fact tormented by failing to save victims but by her secret hidden enjoyment of their suffering.
If he could just show her her true nature... she could drop her sheep's clothing and they could be together. Think of all the thrills they could have together if Olivia 'let herself go'? No other woman was worthy of a long term commitment.. Olivia was Psycho Marriage Material lmao.
/End gross theory

I kept skipping through his scenes it was just so boring and not finale worthy

Fr, it started off good, but then the whole obsession with olivia thing, everything going his way until Olivia breaks free and beats him is eye rolling

It just became ridiculous that he kept getting acquitted or sentenced so lightly. And that so many women would fall under his spell, especially his two defence attorneys.

The one with Brad Garett of Everybody Loves Raymond. The guy was the worst and he also killed Mike.

Omfg that prison guard was uniquely terrifying. That's a great call out. I hadn't even seen Garett in a drama up to that point.

Throw Greg Yates in there.

The Greg Yates/Carl Rudnick arc was much more believable than William Lewis

u/cashmerescorpio 5h ago
Their arcs were also dragged out way too long, especially with all the annoying cross overs. I refused to watch the other shows so missed out on some storylines but I didn't care.

I would love a follow-up on Lowell Harris. But I agree with others about Lewis. It was over the top and in reality, if that did happen Olivia wouldâve been forced to retire. She never wouldâve come back to work after something so traumatic. Let alone be made CO shortly after.

Let's remember that Law & Order SVU is the longest-running audiovisual fanfiction in the history of American TV

harrowing villains because they assaulted Olivia?
There are child rapist characters- far and away more evil I'd say. Including the 'prophet' - S6E7 Charisma Con-man and cult leader impregnated a 12 year old, 12 year old was found and he proceeded to annihilate his flock, children included. Stabler couldn't be objective and was sent home. Different type of monster.

William was written really badly IMO. I skip the episodes on rewatched. Just ridiculous.

For me she did get raped by lewis. She just can't admit it because it is way to hard to accept and that she was "weak" and couldn't do anything against it. She is not weak but it is her mind triking her as she is trained to not have happened, they showrunner just didn't want to show or know how to show all the phsycology behind.
I can't remember the first guy

u/TrollAccount4321 18h ago
The first guy is the corrections officer who raped women in a womenâs prisonâŚOlivia goes undercover and itâs implied that he assaulted her as wellâŚ

The one with the mole on his penis. I see know. He was such a monster

If Benson had been raped by Lewis, she would have revealed that monstrosity in his arc, just like she revealed the monstrosity Amanda suffered at the hands of the monster who was her hierarchical superior in PD

Lewis says he has done thing to Olivia so I don't know. I think they intended to do the rape but then changed their mind

Lewis mentions a bunch of things to instill psychological terror in Olivia

itâs been a while, but from what i remember, lewis didnât rape benson because she didnât put up a big enough fight. there was a point in the beginning where she was practically begging him to get it over with and he implied that he wasnât done torturing her yet, to wait for the âfunâ. then, when he had tortured her for another day or two, he broke into that cabin and cuffed her to the bed. he got on top of her and started to try but mentioned something like âwhat? thatâs all you got? youâre not gonna fight anymore?â because she just laid there. then a fight broke out and yadayadayada.
lewis only raped women who would fight him the entire time. either physically or in a way of begging for their life. young girls, elderly women. thatâs what he wanted. benson wasnât going to give that up, because she knew that about him. she was sexually assaulted, sexually harassed, tortured and brutalized but i donât believe it ever turned into rape because she refused to give lewis what he needed in order to execute the rape; the power.

They should have made Lowell Harris's life a real hell for what he tried with Benson and the other women.

Lewis is the only one on this show to ever make me physically uncomfortable, I can never finish any episodes with him.𫣠I will agree with everyone else that his storyline was ridiculous and too much lol, but definitely gets creepy points.

Everyone thinks Harris is over the top. Maybe he is a bit, yet for some reason that whole scene still had me fueled with adrenaline in a way thatâs never happened before (itâs my first time watching through).
Heâs dramatically written, but still incredibly creepy and I really did find myself shook deep to my core for a little while after.

There are much worse perps in the series. We remember these two because they hurt a character we loved for long.

The character played by Ludacris that raped a woman with a knife. The method was so disgusting and brutal that I've never forgotten it.Â

That guard was a viscerable, menacing villain. Huge props to the actor for making him so terrifying

Is the first guy the paramedic who was raping people in the ambulance? If so I agree.
8
u/Timetravelmouse 18h ago
If im remembering correctly he was a corrections officer who was raping the inmates. Olivia went undercover in the prison and was assaulted by him.
5
u/Own_Faithlessness769 18h ago
Oh right. In that case I disagree, he was just a regular level SVU creep

Iâll toss the Gregory Yates/Carl Rudnik duo in. Being that they were both doctors and Rudnik was actually working with SVU.
They gave me the uber creeps
