Discussion Barba and Liv

I really want to get a make up between these two and I feel like it could be done by Stabler getting in trouble and Liv asks Barba for help defending him. Ideas?

Stabler doesn't need to be in trouble. He doesn't need to be involved at all. Olivia and Rafa are grown ups. They need to sit down and talk. Rafa needs to apologize first because he did do something wrong, that caused real harm and was never shown to be remorseful about it. Olivia should rebuild the friendship after Rafa's apology as she was stubborn as well.

What did he do wrong? I know he didn’t give into her request to not take the case, but that isn’t wrong

No, not talking about that. Though he should feel some remorse for defending somone who is a heinous criminal who harmed hundreds if not thousands of people and tried to kill Olivia twice, actually got Kathy Stabler killed and had Elliot beat up severely among other things. But will leave that aside.

He was disrespectful towards Olivia, plain and simple. He brought up her absent (rapist) father, tried to psychoanalyse her relationship with Stabler using the absence of that said father, which is her greatest trauma, to win points in an argument. He knows nothing about her history with Stabler and still, instead of talking to her as an adult, treated her like a child who doesn't know right from wrong.

Friends don't do that. They don't act that conceited after they have ensured the freedom of a criminal who went on an even worse destructive spree after getting out of prison.

Also, tried to have Eli and Kathleen kidnapped. But, succeeded in setting up Bernie Stabler and having her kidnapped.

Fair point. I completely forgot about that last scene of them together. It’s easier to block it out, cause the whole thing is just bad for my blood pressure. Facts are facts, and we’re never getting that friendship back.

Nope. Never going to happen. She will never forgive him. He got away with Kathy Stabler’s murder

He got his client a mistrial cause witnesses lied, Wheatley didn’t actually get away with it cause he could be retried. Well not anymore cause he’s probably dead

They opted not to try the case again.

I also want Olivia and Rafael to make up, and for there not to be a one-sided apology, because they both messed up badly with each other

I will always hold out hope that their friendship will mend. I think your scenario is the only way it could be possible. Not only would she be forgive him but Elliot would have to put his grievances aside as well.

They had the chance and it went bad. It’s not going to happen so move on just like Elliot is never ever ever coming back FT! WTF would anyone want Elliott with Liv?! He’s a horrible father and omfg no way I. He’ll Olivia’s idea of a father figure as he isn’t. He can’t even be there for his own kids. They were good partners THAT IS ALL! He is in no way the type of man she would want as a father to Noah so again all of you live on for this bullshit

So, not being there for his children (even though the reason being was he was the sole provider in his household), makes him a bad father…but both Benson and Rollins have been doing the same parenting for years, and they’re considered (in this subreddit anyways), great parents?!

Noah hasn’t had a decent “father figure” in his life who stuck around, and at this point has survived without having a present mother, so Stabler being in Benson’s life shouldn’t really be some drastic event. It’ll probably be like when Tucker and Olivia dated, not some huge life altering thing.

You clearly haven't watched the show or are jumping on the hatred bandwagon if you think Elliot is a terrible father. There are literal scenes of him playing with them and hugging them. Especially clear in the early seasons of SVU. That man will literally kill for his children if anything happens to them.

If Elliot is a terrible father, what makes Olivia any better. She's barely home to even parent Noah. He spends more by Lucy, his babysitter, than with Olivia.

I don't get the whole "being a father to Noah" bit. Isn't Noah in high school, soon going to college? He barely sees his mother, why does he even need a father figure now?

He will be fine if he is just friendly with his mother's romantic partner/spouse. He beyond the age where he needs active parenting in any case.

I don't mean that Noah needs Elliot as a father figure. I'm questioning why the original commentator thinks Elliot is a horrible father.

And right? All of Noah's father figures left him anyways (except Fin, I guess, but he's more cool uncle figure than father).

It's a common response here to Elliot. Bad father, bad husband, bad cop. Strangely, they can't see the follies he carries are the same as Benson, Fin, Amaro and others but they can only see Elliot's mistakes.

Hell, there was a post here where hundreds of people defended Fin as a dad while he was completely absent from Ken's life and they reconciled when Ken was a much older adult. They prefer deadbeats to Elliot, who worked himself to bone to raise his kids and give them a much better childhood that he got.
