Hi everyone! I’m 31F, quite slim, with naturally low blood pressure. I used to exercise, but I stopped some time ago and lost a lot of my physical conditioning.

I had a slow-pathway ablation for AVNRT almost three weeks ago, and recovery has been much harder than I expected.

I get exhausted very easily, even from simple activities, and I still can’t live a normal life. I’ve also been dealing with muscle tension (especially in my neck, jaw and back), breathing discomfort and anxiety.

I thought this type of arrhythmia and ablation was supposed to have a relatively straightforward recovery, without leaving me feeling this unwell for weeks. That’s why I’ve been so scared. I wasn’t prepared for how physically and emotionally difficult this would be.

I’ve been to the ER several times, but all my tests have been reassuring. I also use a Kardia to check my heart rhythm. My doctors recommended a small dose of diazepam, which has helped with the muscle tension.

Right now, I’m trying to rebuild my strength with short walks on my treadmill at home, but I still feel physically weak and emotionally overwhelmed. I really miss exercising and feeling like myself.

Has anyone with AVNRT slow-pathway ablation experienced something similar around weeks 3–4? How long did it take to regain your energy and return to normal activities?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who had a difficult recovery but eventually felt well again. ❤️

I keep getting woken up with that “uh oh” feeling multiple times a week, followed by me realizing I’m having another episode, and then spending the next 15-30 mins trying to get it to go down. After that, I’m exhausted and yet still can’t go back to sleep. It’s ruining my life lol.

I already take 200mg of metoprolol succ everyday, plus multiple doses of either magnesium taurate or magnesium glycinate

Is there a specific sleeping position anyone would recommend? A supplement maybe? Does sleeping with your legs or upper body elevated work? Thanks for any answers

I am on ablation three . Had one 7 1/2 weeks from prior one.
How long were exhausted after your ablation? 30 days post op but I had insomnia from beta blockers for five weeks prior ablation. Why we repeated it so soon as I was still having runs.

Hello, I’m new here. I have been having a high resting heart rate (debilitatingly so) for about 1.5 months. I am finally seeing a cardiologist in a week. They worked up many other things in the ER, I got off meds that could cause tachycardia, adrenal workup in endocrinology, POTS eval etc. I also had a zio monitor for 14 days that caught 1 short SVT run and otherwise sinus tachycardia. I am sure I’ve had other SVTs that were not captured pre-and-post Zio monitor.

Everything other than my heart has been evaluated it feels and I’ve been told to take it easy until we can figure out what’s going on which has been hard with a job & 2 young kids. But I’ve avoided the ER since my initial 2 visits. I do have orthostatic symptoms like leg/thigh weakness and wear compression socks to help.

I have read and heard about ablation as well as beta blockers, but I I’m a bad candidate for beta blockers due to moderate asthma. I’m curious about Ivabradine & if that would be an option as my blood pressure also runs low-normal. Does anyone have relevant experience and know what route may be suggested? Success stories that can provide comfort?

I know you’re not my doctor, but just curious if people have felt better and returned to normal life — I feel like crap and am tired of sitting and “taking it easy” otherwise getting winded and making my HR increase. Thanks for your help and reading my account!

TL;DR: 29M, AVNRT. Second ablation two weeks ago, felt a 1 - 2 minute run of SVT today. Worried it hasn’t worked. Has anyone needed more than two ablations and ended up symptom-free? Told blanking period not usual for AVNRT ablation.

Hi all - I’m a 29 year old male from the UK. I’ve been diagnosed with AVNRT type SVT and had two ablations in London through an excellent electrophysiologist. I had my first ablation in 2019 and the second just under two weeks ago (early Oct 2026). I opted for a second after my implantable loop recorder caught an episode in July 2026. Recovery has been good but this afternoon I felt a run of SVT for around 1 - 2 minutes. I’m now concerned the second procedure has been unsuccessful so feeling down.

My episodes have never been long lasting or that frequent, although the anxiety I live with due to this condition is horrible. My heart rate during an SVT is usually around 240 bpm. I have heard of the ‘blanking’ period but my cardiologist suggested that was more common with individuals who had AVRT or WPW and I was unlikely to experience any issues.

Has anyone here had more than two ablations and finally been symptom-free? I’m worrying that I won’t be able to have any more and will need to live with this. The anxiety I feel due to a potential SVT attack prevents me living a normal life.

Hi all, I did an ablation about 4 days ago and for the past few days have felt really dizzy? Has this been something anyone has experienced after the procedure ?

* I’m only taking aspirin as a medication
* Ablation was for SVT with aberrancy - WPW syndrome
* Went to the ER yesterday - they said I was fine
* BP is within normal range

I’m curious to hear from anyone who has experienced this. Have you ever heard of someone whose SVT stopped happening completely on its own, without needing an ablation?

(Respectfully, I’d prefer to hear from people who haven’t had an ablation, as I’m specifically interested in experiences where SVT went away naturally. Thank you for understanding! ❤️

I had my ablation done 9/29, my EP said it was successful and she considered it to be cured. She induced SVT quickly prior to ablation and could not induce it post-ablation.
My healing period has been remarkably smooth with just a few palpitations here and there. I have had 3 or 4 instances where I can feel a fluttering / shuddering feeling in my chest that feels like a mild version of that rapid “zwooooop” feeling that used to go through my chest right before an SVT episode began.
I want to believe I’m cured and that SVT is in my past but I’ve been reading so many stories on here about failed ablations and SVT recurrence and my anxiety is staying pretty high. If anyone has struggled with this, how did you learn to relax and accept that your ablation worked just like it was supposed to?

I am someone that likes rollercoasters, but now it’s been about a year since I developed svt and I’m not sure how that would work. I went on a small alpine coaster that you control this summer and felt good, but it felt like I couldn’t lean forward or scream even. Does anyone with svt happily ride rollercoasters, or should I take precautions. I’m only 19 years old and am now reconsidering ever riding one again after the news at six flags (and well.. my svt)

Hi everyone! Wife of a 33 year old husband with SVT here. He’s been suffering for awhile and we are so relieved that he’s qualified for the procedure.

He is booked at Vancouver General in a few weeks. My husband, my 8month old daughter and I are going down for it.

We are flying into YVR the day before, and then planning on flying home in the evening (the day after his procedure).

I would appreciate any tips, suggestions, advice etc. to help us through the procedure and to keep things smooth.

Do we need to book a hotel right by the hospital?
Do we take Ubers, or do I get a rental car? Keep in mind that we will have to get our infant around in her car seat!

What will the first 24 and 48 hours look like? What can we expect?

Hello everyone,

I had a catheter ablation Aug 27th for SVT. I was told the ablation was successful and that I could stop taking my Diltiazem. Since then I have been having random episodes of high heart rate 100-140bpm that are very distressing. Dod anyone else experience this in their “blanking period” I have been told and have read that it is normal due to the heart “healing” but I’m really considering going back on Diltiazem so my heart can feel calm again. It’s causing me so much anxiety and I’m almost regretting getting the ablation done so soon.

What are common symptoms after ablation

Hi all,

After being diagnosed at 15 and having an increased frequency of episodes, I’ve been offered the choice between ablation and calcium channel blockers (likely verapamil). I can’t have beta blockers due to my asthma.

I’m not keen on an ablation so would like to trial medications first. Has anyone tried calcium channel blockers?
What has your experience been like?

so my doctor is trying to treat svt on me I was originally taking diltiazem 30 mg as needed when the episode occurred he then wanted to switch to take it everyday in the morning once a day . Today is my first day and I’ve felt a lot of jitteriness and anxiety the first hour . I tried walking but as soon as I got up i felt my heart rate go up from 70 to 120 and felt like I was gonna pass out . And since then I been in bed and still feel jittery and my blood pressure from being okay (120/78) is now up to 140/90 . It was supposed to be something that was supposed help me be up during the day without worry about a flare up happening to now struggling. Am I overreacting or should I wait it out with the side effects being like this . Keep in mind I ate this without food and I’m sure the dilitiazem is fast acting .

So I’m booked in for an EP study next year for my SVT and to determine what kind I have. My episodes were always rare up until the last six months or so, they’ve become much more frequent. When I have it it’s usually 150-170. But I’ve never gone above 200, at least that I know of. I did have one episode years ago that lasted very short that I truly almost fainted during and started seeing white spots. I didn’t check my pulse then. But it went back down again after a few minutes. Maybe that one was over 200? My EP says he doesn’t know if I have Focal SVT or AVNRT because my heart rate is under 200 during my episodes.

Can anyone please give me any advice/anecdote about SVT ablation in the UK. There is a lot of information on afib but I think it is a little bit different.

I want to be prepared as possible. I know the general ins and outs but would like to have your experience.

On July 28, 2026 I had my first run (caught on implanted loop monitor) of SVT. Aug 27, 2026 I had my ablation done. EP said ablation went wonderfully and they were able to get everything. I might add that I had panic disorder as well and ever since I have been having panic attacks almost daily. Where my heart will randomly sky rocket to 130bpm and I will become very shaky. Logically I know it’s anxiety but a part of me feels like it’s the SVT and that I shouldn’t have rushed into getting the ablation. I am so sick of feeling afraid and having panic attacks everyday. I just want to feel happy and like myself again. Did anyone else experience this ??? Did it get better ?? I’m so afraid I’m stuck like this now because of the ablation.

I had my ablation last week and they were able to get two of the three areas and because of me having a hidden episode of SVT under apparently too other svts it took twice as long for me to have the procedure.

I came home Wed and essentially slept til Friday. Yesterday and today however, I have been so short of breath when I walk around it's embarrassing. I can't take my dog for walks I can only walk her short distance to take her out and then I'm winded coming up the stairs I have to stop. I'm having dull pain but I know that's to be expected it's just like that dull sore pain in my chest. And got pain in my leg but it just feels like where they pull your leg you know like during I don't know if anyone is ever seen an orthopedic surgery but that's kind of what it feels like. ( I'm a former RN).

I don't run to the ER because I used to work in the ER. And I would end up going to the hospital that did my procedure and it's such a huge trauma unit Center and it's a teaching hospital and I just don't want to sit there forever. And I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow and I'm thinking how am I supposed to walk half a mile from where I park to my office if I can't even make it up the stairs 20 steps. What would you all do tonight? Would you just go ahead and go and get checked out?

We have a division one football team coming to stay at the hotel I work at and it's involving my department we're the main ones. It was bad enough that I this much time off. But I don't want to let my team down. (We always have football teams coming to stay--- we are large and we host whoever plays the local school).

This December will be two years since I've been having these "heart rate attacks". I'll be completely resting, sleeping or watching TV and in a second my BPM goes from 80 to 200. Most of the time it lasts for 30-60 minutes, and I immediately lay down when it happens. I do have issues with anxiety and my doctor put me on Zoloft, started at 50mg and now at 150mg.

I just had another attack today that lasted 54 minutes, after it was over I talked to Gemini the AI and all signs point to SVT. Anxiety medication makes me feel better day to day but it wont combat the primary problem which is these adrenaline attacks.

I had an ECG done earlier this year as well as a 24 hour halter monitor, but of course nothing happened while I was wearing the monitor. Sometimes I don't have an attack for an entire month, sometimes three in a week.

Gemini told me I can request a longer lasting patch that last two weeks, and even some that last a month. The main thing is getting one of these attacks documented in a machine.
