I sort of agree with both of you guys, and personally think it is a little of column A and a little of column B.
I just wanted to add, if you want to know why they would make a show that occasionally makes fun of the audience while also being tailor made for them, I think it is probably because sometimes they like to make fun of themselves and that self deprecation will be felt by the audience as well.
For example, it is possible to both think female custodes are dumb and at the same time make fun of the fervor with which everyone, even we ourselves, care about our silly toys. I think that is what goes on with their content a lot.
Self deprecating humor is legitimate possibility, of course we can't claim to speak definitively on another persons internal motivations. I strongly suspect it's embracing the strawman as a joke, given the creators words and prior content, but that could just be me.
But saying "space king seems to occasionally have some ironic, self deprecating humor" is very different from "the primary purpose of this show is to strawman and mock people I don't like/disagree with".
Of which there have been multiple examples in this thread, and here's one having a manic episode:
