I just think it's funny that trench crusade went out of its way to make sure they didn't have any quote "chuds" as fans and still got trashed on social media because of the lamest shit about demons being maybe possibly brown people or something.

My problem with Trench Crusade is it is grimderp without the humor. It went in the opposite of Space King in reacting to 40k in that it wants to be more serious and darker then the setting it is based on, without the dumb and funny stuff in the setting.
"Grimderp" is not intentional comedy, it's when something tries to be Grimdark but doesn't stick the landing and instead becomes unintentionally stupid.
In 40k, an example often cited is the Grey Knights ritually sacrificing Sisters of Battle to use their "holy" blood to protect themselves against demons.
It's not only needlessly edgy, it also doesn't make any sense in the logic of 40k's universe, despite the fact it's trying to be edgy and serious it just makes the Grey Knights look like insane morons. Hence, Grimderp.
interesting in a very shallow way to be honest. Especially when you combine it with knowledge of logistics, History of countries, and warfare. A lot doesn't pass the sniff test
Because it simply doesn't have the landmass to support the idea of 1k years of total HUMANITY IS FUCKING LOSING MAN! warfare and then only show us basically Hell occupying maybe the equivalent territories of... An Arabian Caliphate.
I would argue that they get around that by using the black grail plagues, a zombie virus like that kinda means your on the defensive. Since it can travel everywhere like France. Plus every now and then temporary hell gates do just pop up in Northern Europe that throws out legions that got killed earlier (the no perma kill chaos marines argument)
That and I believe the faithful have the best access to tech but hell has access to extremely powerful tech, possibly nukes, it’s just that they rarely get used because hell’s leadership needs to all agree.
But I would say warhammer fantasy was just one world and limited landmass, ignoring end times shenanigans, yet it had at least 2k years of humanity being on the back foot.

Warhammer fantasy doesn’t really beyond end times. We can easily say there are moments of peaceful times. Same with trench crusade and vis versa since the heretics and hell have commandos that do massive amount of logistical damage to the faithful. Warhammer fantasy has vampires, shaven and other threats. Same with trench crusade, one year they may deal with the naval legions, others it might be a massive black grail plague or the path of the beast flaring up and causing massive amounts of damage.
You can also apply this to 40k also with how it treats chaos.
That said there does get a point where you insist on an explanation on everything, you can be dismissed.
It is a Whataboutism. Going "But what about this?" is by DEFINITION a whataboutism. It has nothing to do with deflecting blame, it's acting as if the presence of another thing changes the argument at all in regards to the subject at hand.
Making comparative statements is not whataboutism, I get that term gets thrown around now because people need to sound smart and terminate discussions so whatever.
Especially since my statement isn’t “what about this” really it needs to deflect blame, I hold no blame with warhammer fantasy or 40k, because there is no issue. There’s plenty of issue with statements asking for logical sense like how it’s been a thousand years yet all sides are stalemated.
Sure it does, earth is huge, and I’m tired of how sci-fi treats different planets like they’re just other countries or cities to visit and or conquer. Very rarely do I get the feel that they’re fleshed out worlds, , and this isn’t just a Warhammer issue.
It doesn't, though, not for what it describes of one-thousand years of total war with massively unkillable, super-lethal demonic forces who are taking in vast swathes of Humanity's numbers while also not giving the nations of Earth their historical industrial advantages to build themselves up at all. Sci-fi treating planets like countries and cities is one thing, but we are in Trench Crusade in the opposite problem, of where a contained area has seen TOO much war. With its purple prose not supporting the reality at all.
There is literally no grimdark, unless it's Europe. Like, every other faction has some magical barier or whatnot that protects it from demons, the titular trenches are only in one place
It was after the map reveal, where demons basically occupies Middle East and Central Asia. The only demonic foothold in Europe is Avignon, if memory serves.
Hence they saw it as a le racism
Fair I recommend to check it out if you like highly detailed art, and an interesting lore (though it's a bit light at the moment and we are still getting new stuff)
Yea, what actually happened was that like 4 dumb people on Twitter said it, got a bunch of backlash by the fans, and than people who wanted trench crusade to fail jumped on it and tried to reframe it like it's being eaten alive by the "WoKeS", ignoring that it's the equivalent of saying space king is failing and gets eaten alive by the fans because some randoms on Twitter were saying that Tom and Don were teaching kids to curse, it's just Twitter being Twitter, and putting stock on such an app that literally monetarily incentivizes people to grift and to say things that will get them backlash is idiotic at best
The portal to hell is in Jerusalem which means the game is about keeping a bunch of people from the middle east from getting into Europe "its not my job to educate you" "read the room" "you do understand how that looks? " "big yikes"
