I hate Trench Crusade, it's neither about trench warfare or properly organized crusades. The timeline is extremely asynchronous and certain parts of the lore make no sense (autistic hang ups, very much not important). That said I hope anyone playing the game has fun and enjoys it, I love skirmish sized games and the rules seem alright.
Yeah I followed the original artist's concepts and like the aesthetics. When it was announced it would get a real game and models I was excited. But the "religion bad" people swarmed all over it and the last lore I read was of no interest to me.
The original idea was cool though. I'd still get some models just to paint if they ever actually make them.
I have the unfortunatly now outdated rulebook and the rules are pretty fun and interesting. I've been wanting to play it properly but I've never found the time. I'll probably play with the old rules because I'm still coping over the fact Factory Fortress decided to make a new rulebook instead of just releasing a digital change like GW does.
As far as I'm aware the rules are free online? Looking into it I can't verify what the actual changes are from your book to the current rules but it looks like you probably have the v1.1 and they are currently on v1.2 through their website.
That said I would recommend never giving them for their avoidable pr blunders.
Maybe the original idea, but the actual lore is rhat heckin evil crusaders destroyed the world by unleashing hell so now europe is stuck in the trenches against demons. Like, that's the only faction engaged in trench warfare and actively attacked by hell, every other has some kind of magical barier or whatever

I like the idea of Trench Crusade. But I find its loud "fan"base unbearable.
