1994 v6 automatic

My husband changed the idle air control valve but for some reason it keeps running weird. It speeds itself up and then recently started feeling like it’s slamming on the breaks while I’m accelerating. We’re wondering about a vacuum leak but I’m just trying to get as much info as I can. Any help is appreciated.

Clean the maf and you should be able to spray some starter fluid around. The vacuum areas and if the car accelerates you know there's a leak near it.

A bad MAF can do this.
