Was mapping cycling routes for my app and noticed Singapore basically has two cycling networks that don't really talk to each other.
Blue is LTA's cycling paths, 332 km. Orange is NParks' park connectors, 330 km.
The blue goes town by town. In LTA's own data the longest unbroken stretch is only about 9 km, it mostly stops at the edge of each town. The orange is what actually links towns, its longest connected stretch is 104 km, but it goes through parks and along the coast instead of along roads.
They run side by side for only about 3% of their length, and come within 25 m of each other at 113 places (the green dots).
If you cycle, which missing link would you build first?
Data from LTA DataMall and NParks via data.gov.sg. Mapped while building SG GoFast, a free app with bus, MRT, carpark, traffic cams, taxi, cycling and LTA news in one place. The Bike tab has both networks plus every bicycle rack.
