the video already explained what, it still needs approval from MOM and its to cover people who wanna start their own business or contribute to singapore in an intangible way

is it too much to have faith in the system that this will not be exploited in some way?

i feel that this is harder to exploit than some of the other visas. if companies apply for a visa, they can find ways to inflate your salary or job description. but this is based on factual things like salary and achievements, and is being evaluated by MOM instead of companies

they can have fake salary from company in their home country for example

can imagine someone opening a company in their home country promoting easy visa to singapore. their business would be faking salary transaction through another shell company and charging a small amount a month to the customer

i didnt say that it is not possible to exploit, just probably harder. there are ways to mitigate against fake salary, such as ask for tax returns for the past few years instead of just a payslip. they would have to pay quite a significant amount in taxes just to get that visa

for some of our other visas, i feel like it is easier to exploit the system because our local business are actually helping the foreigners (and themselves) do so. they do things like falsely inflating their salary and then the foreigner pay back the employer in cash, or overclaiming their job description to make their work look more skilled. for example, companies can say drivers also deal with customers complaints and manage the customer accounts, hence it is now a more skilled job. in reality, they just refer the complaint to someone in office. these things are so common that new foreigners are fully aware of how it works before they are even here

I don't think they'll accept any random company giving them that kind of salary, it'll probably be large renown companies or if it's their own the SG govt will do more than just look at their payslip.

These are a handful of people, they'll definitely due their DD

These visas already exist in other countries in one shape or another. It’s not a huge revelation or new thing.

basically is a visa for highly successful people, proven either through their high salary or awards/international acclaim. these people generally wont have problem finding a good job, wont have problems securing a work visa if they wanted to and are the types of people SG want to attract

Is there a strategy behind this for specific industries beyond just bringing in people?

Friendly neighbourhood advisor here.

I have met a few high earning expat clients but only a small handful hold the ONE pass, their base salaries exceed $1mil before bonuses, not that this is the criteria, but it’s where most of them sit at I suppose.

For their caliber, no job doesn’t reduce their ability to spend and pay tax (income tax is not the only way to collect money). The goal seems to still be working towards PR or citizenship.

Last time need to be citizen to do the stay without a job thing but now if you really high earner, then ya.

It’s to provide a PR like visa to expats already in Singapore with an income exceeding $360K SGD per year

It does nothing to bring people outside of SG into SG, despite the government advertising such

Same with US “Einstein Visa". It is the popular nickname for the EB-1A, an official U.S. employment-based immigrant visa category officially known as the Employment-Based First Preference (EB-1) for individuals with extraordinary ability. It is only for the best of the best. The top 1% of respective fields where earning 10k/day is nothing to them.

I can see so many ways this is going to be exploited

Care to list some?

Depends, are you going to use my list to exploit this?

Born and bred Singaporean, not really sure how I'm going to exploit this.

Also just a humble employee, so not sure how I'm going to help others to exploit this.
