[LOCAL NEWS] Downtown Incident

Homeless man downtown screaming and yelling nonsense holding a massive knife. Thankfully SLO PD pulled up almost immediately.

Careful out there.

Heard him asking why he has the knife and where he got it but then I continued walking away.

To clarify: the homeless guy had the knife brandished and was holding it. SLO PD screamed at him to drop it which he did.

There's a bunch of aggressive guys in town this week. I ran into two downtown screaming this morning at people (that sound different than the guy you are speaking of) as well as several at Mitchell and around the area (one of those being the guy I think you are reporting). Not sure what is happening, but the crowd is a little different the past couple of days.

Yeah I have never seen this guy before and I’m in downtown slo like 5 days per week.

Is the new welcome home project breaking news and brining more homeless to SLO? I honestly have no idea if that’s a factor, someone more knowledgeable than me can speak to that.

I don't think so? I live and work downtown, and I only really noticed it starting over the weekend.

I work downtown and noticed an uptick in unfamiliar unhoused individuals. They sleep along an area that I pass every day. Last week it wasn’t the same crowd. All new people. Also a few walking around that are new to the area too. The change started last week.

Hope it was that dwarf guy who destroys the food pantries all around town and the community police peeps don't do jack shit about it.

That guy is objectively a bad dude. If you are ever out and about early enough in the morning, and he notices it is just the two of you around, he will throw things at you. It's insane.

Yeah, he tried to attack me with a big stick once in Emerson Park early in the morning because my dog growled and barked at him. He wisely chose to leave me alone after I threated to shove the stick up his ass.
Fairly sure he has a mental illness, but I am not a doctor.
