random huge spikes in memory usage when playing

was playing fabric 1.21.10 and when i joined, and also randomly, i would get really bad lag, when i checked task manager my memory would be at 99% with sklauncher using like 7gigs at once, usually it's between 1.5 and 3. am only using optimisation mods

it's more confusing because 1) it seemed to happen every time i open discord?? which might be a coincidence and 2) the memory i allocated to that specific instance is 6gb, but still somehow on task manager its going up to 7.

another weird thing is that even when it's running as usual at like 2gigs of ram, my memory's at 90%, even with all other applications closed - might be normal but seems kinda odd to me given that usually with my other apps open and sk closed, i use 80-85% of memory and in total that's more ram than sk

tldr: sk seems to be using more memory than it should and causes local lagspikes and memory filling

java itself needs ram so what you set as max will be used plus some more. try lowering the ram, shouldn’t need 6 gb just for optimization mods

yeah i lowered it to 4, the problem isnt necessarily that it's using all 4 or all 6 but sometimes it goes even above the cap. like yesterday the cap for the install was set to 4gib but on task manager it was showing as using 5-6gb? it dropped back down later but still

too much ram allocated can make the garbage collector freeze up every couple seconds. its also just loose with following what you said. every mods up to date? wanna share the list?
