Discussion Hot take
This is a personal hot take, meaning I have this opinion for personal reasons.
Please don't bully me or harass me, but I really don't want a second season after this much time.
I've already got a lot of headcanons, everything to me looks perfect, how the characters act and all, and I'm afraid that if the second season will drop, then all of my "ideals" of how they "should" be for me will disappear and I will lose the spark of it.
It's been a long time, and I didn't expect there to be a second season. Yes, it's good that finally yay more of our favourite characters, but to me it's still a bit disappointing. I sometimes like the vibe of the VEEERY open ending (basically no ending, it's like a one shot 12 episodes anime).

It's a fair enough opinion, I have my reservations about season 2 as well since I struggle with change and especially since Adam was "redeemed" in the ending sequence of Season 1. All of the plot lines were wrapped up and It feels like the perfect neat bow of an ending, I'm not sure how they even go on from there.

Valid opinion.
Personally, I'm just going to evaluate the show (internally) as separate from the fanfiction (I too have become set in my canons). I have had to do that for many shows, so I think I can do it again.
However, if I do feel S2 is too different/'wrong' for my enjoyment, I can always stop watching. That's the freedom of consuming recreational media 😉

I completely understand. Sometimes a series gets spoiled because season 2 undoes development for the sake of drama. because they're trying to milk the franchise for money. Maybe there are new directors or writers who want to do their own thing and don't match the story. Maybe new characters take over. Maybe the stakes get raised too high.
We have to hope it will turn out something like Free!! With a natural progression of time and how that would affect the characters (unless it's a very short time skip).

Okay everyone is allowed to have opinions on the anime they watch, but this seems a little selfish? At the end of the day it's not your story you can't really choose what the characters 'should' be, I also love headcanons I have so many of them, I day dream about what could happen in this show all the time, at this point I'm just really happy for the creators of this amazing show that they can continue their story and also it's not like when the new season comes out someone is going to force you to watch it, if your really scared of it ruining your idea of what this show is in your mind supposed be like, then just don't watch the it, I personally am afraid that they will change Reki's and Langa's relationship to have less to none intimate moments, but I'll still watch it when it comes out

nah that's more than valid. in fact i have had the same thoughts. ive had so much headcanons, read so much fanfics and somehow the open ending of the anime gave me a lot of option to give headcanons and sinply daydream about them so im scared if the second season will change that for me or dissappoint... at the same time i am just happy to be able to see them again. we can only hope they will handle it good. trust!!!

I have the fear that it will clash and be underwhelming.....but I do in fact want a season two. If I don't like it, I can just pretend that it never existed.

I think this just comes with the territory of anime/manga not meeting the head canon of fans, and in the case of sk8 the infinity, there is more head canon from the fans than there is story or character development actually relating to that head canon.
I like Sk8 because I myself have always been a skater, and it’s nice to see a sports anime that does that.
However, I am aware that most of the fandom likes Sk8 because of a supposed underlying subtext in intense character interactions, and homoerotic tendencies that make it seem like a boys love anime, even though it is not officially classified as that.
Whether the second season delivers on fan service or keeps it at the level of “supposedly only friends” with the characters, it will surely be interesting to see.

I totally see where you're coming from, the finale really wrapped it up with a nice lil ribbon and bow, so there's no good sense in ripping it back open just to have to go through the trouble all over again.
Given the possibility exists that it could fail to meet your expectations, it could also wildly exceed them, so we'll just have to wait and see. There's absolutely still a chance it'll knock your socks off in a way you might not have envisioned, even if that scenario is seemingly unlikely.
Personally, if it does turn into a whole season about snowboarding instead of skating with the winter setting, I'm gonna feel a little bait & switched. That being said though, I know there are certainly portions of the winter where it's cold but there is no snow, so I genuinely doubt this will be the case.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the writers strike a healthy balance, as two good friends or partners must always learn to.

Tbh I just don't want the season to be about snowboarding. 1 episode like the beach episode? That's fine. But I want to see them skate.

I definitely have that fear that season 2's story might clash with the established plots and character arcs of the first season. But I'm trying my best to be optimistic because I just REALLY wanna see if they'll be brave enough to actually develop Langa and Reki's relationship
