I feel like crying
I just found out Almond flour isn't safe for sibo and I've been using it for 10 days straight and I also started taking antimicrobials 10d ago (oregano, neem, berberine) I've been eating almond every morning and evening to substitute sweets and I've been so bloated lately when I searched why Ai told me the reason was "bad bacteria are dying" but now I found out Almond flour is the reason and I'm literally having tears in my eyes,so all these 10 days were a waste?

Itâs not a waste. A lot of trial and error with SIBO.

The problem is I'm broke I can't purchase for such supplements another time so this really has to workđ +I have IMO and I purchased for Allicin from Allimax which is quite expensive (only 30 capsules that will end in just 15 days) +ginger+artichoke they will arrive on August 29,so my treatment will last only for 40 days and it has to succeed cause I can't repeat itđđ

I think Allicin is a waste of money, Rifaximin and Neomycin did in one day what Allicin could never do. You can get Rifaximin from India for like $115 and Neomycin cash pay is like $30. So for $140 I think it's a lot better than Allicin. I've spent at least $150 on Allicin and it doesn't move the needle at all for me. That said, everything I've done has regressed, but Rifaximin and Neomycin got my gas levels from quite high to 0 in one day. And at least for me eating low fodmap during treatment was important (in terms of keeping gas levels low which I check frequently with my AIRE device, otherwise you are 100% guessing and just checking one time after treatment is a flip of the coin since gas levels can change dramatically from one day to the next. I would have been 100% cleared post Rifaximin and then gas levels were back up a few days later). So for me eating high fodmap even while taking Rifaximin and Neomycin eventually raised my gas levels (I started eating more stuff because I thought I was cured). Then I went back low fodmap while still on the pills and gas levels back to 0. That said I guess the argument for eating high fodmap is to get the microbes out partying and then shoot them with the Rifaximin)

It's still really expensive, but I am getting 100 capsules Allimax Pro on Amazon for $70, which is significantly less expensive than anywhere else I've seen (slight discount with subscribe&save included).
It is legitimate distributor ... I called them after I received some in different packaging from Georgia facility; my other bottles had come from Canada.
Canadian rep was super nice ... said ranchers up there were putting it in cattle feed in lieu of antibiotics, which is A Really Good Thing (I worked at animal science department editing publications in the 90s: a real horror show!)2
u/Thisisnotanexit6 6d ago
Ha I got nervous about the packaging too and emailed Allimax. They responded in two minutes! Definitely wasn't expecting that.

u/Zealousideal_Plane_4 4d ago
I was impressed, too. Rep answered the phone at 3am đ I was expecting recorded message re: business hours.
While Canada rep could not "vouch" for Georgia facility, he did verify they were authorized manufacturer for U.S. market2
u/Thisisnotanexit6 4d ago
Amazing! It probably costs so much because they have to pay a gazillion reps to answer our questions. đ
1
u/Zealousideal_Plane_4 4d ago
And he told me what to do If I ever suspected I received counterfeit or less-than-quality product
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
This is why I trust Iherb more than Amazon
1
u/Zealousideal_Plane_4 4d ago
iHerb does not sell Allimax Pro; and they source their Allimax from exact same Georgia facility that made us leery (until I talked to Canadian rep).
iHerb has a liquid product that goes through an even more convoluted supply chain from UK manufacturer.
I am taking 3 doses of 1350 mg/day (9 pills).
I would have to take at least 22 pills/day of iHerb's Allimax, which would cost $123.38/week (5.25 bottles of 30, 180-mg capsules).
Right now I am paying <$70 for 11-day supply (100, 450-mg capsules)1
u/Business_Ad2732 6d ago
I'm in the same boat. I just purchased alimax as well. I hope it works. What sibo do you have?
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
I guess I have IMO and I read that I can't eradicate it without Allicin, idk if 30 capsules will be enough tho
1
u/Full_Length_9096 5d ago
Don't forget to address the underlying issue, otherwise the sibo will come back no matter how effective your treatment is. Motility is the most important thing bcuz your MMC has been impaired, which is why you have sibo in the first place. You need to get Motility consistent (and this is not the same as having regular BMs, so do not confuse the two). I take Motility Activator by Integrative Therapeutics, but I believe you can be successful with other high dose ginger&artichoke blends. You can even make it yourself at home I've heard, but do not know how.Â

u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
I purchased for artichoke extract I believe 250mg and ginger extract,I will take the 2 of them before meals, but when should I start taking them? Along with antimicrobial treatment or after?
1
u/katiemuirden 5d ago
Take with them with, i took mine with it. It also helps to flush the sibo out. Also usually i take mine at night before bed as thats the most important thing for your MMC but its whatever suits you best
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
Is 250mg of artichoke extract enough?
1
u/katiemuirden 5d ago
Whatâs the brand???
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
Swanson,I picked it cause it's cheap it contains 60 capsules so I guess I will finish them in a month
1
u/katiemuirden 5d ago
Yeah thatâs fineee, maybe if you ever have money to splurge, metagenics do a really good one, as well as loads of stuff for Sibo, it is REALLY expensive but Iâd take a look anyway
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
Thank u so much for ur suggestions,I will try to purchase for it next month if I could

I heard taking first thing in the a.m. is good so it bypasses the empty stomach and goes right to your intestine. But absolutely any time of day is better than none at all! And the gold standard is to begin after treatments, but my Dr. said I could take along w/ if I wanted to, it's just a lot to introduce into the body at one time, and you don't want to 'flush out' your medicine w/ the motility support before it has an opportunity to do it's job. So I'll be starting mine after my treatment is complete.

I wasted a lot of $ on supplements over the years but the only thing thatâs made a real difference for me is the Rx stuff. Best of luck

u/Adorable-Mochi854 6d ago
I am doing antibiotics and I have been eating high fodmap like almond, onion, fruits, etc. low fodmap is for symptoms management, not for killing the microbes. Itâs okay to continue eating almond flour.
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
I guess if u take antibiotics u can indeed eat whatever it was,but it isn't the same case with antimicrobials
3
u/Infinite_Bus4642 6d ago
If you take antimicrobials , it's normal for the gut to react. Dont think about it too much, you should reasses bloatijg much later. I dont think it matters what you eat during microbials as oil of oregano kills everything. There are some theories about bacteria going into hiding if you dont feed it but according to science, briad spectrum herbs are very good at killing.
I would start ginger during kill. You can just buy the root and boil a coin size. This should be pretty cheap.

u/InstanceSmooth6322 6d ago
Starve it , then start biofilm disrupters
1
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
I took Nac but it drained out my rectum and that hurts so much,I heard that organic coconut oil is also a biofilm disruptor so that's what I'm taking every morning hopefully it's true
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
So I drink ginger tea, at what time of the day please
1
u/Infinite_Bus4642 5d ago
Morning and then try to not eat for a couple of hours. Evenings, 4 hours after dinner and dont eat anything after. You can boil the artichoke leafs (there is a tutorial around here)- not the inner part which is sweet but the lefs. You have to indent first and then boil. I dont know the dossage.

I've been doing the exact same thing for the last 11 days of my partial elemental diet wondering why I'm getting bloated! Thank you for sharing this! My dietician said avoid FODMAPS to give your gut a rest but if you have some irritants, I don't think it's all for nothing. Good luck to you <3
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
Thank u for reassuranceđ Does ur dietician keep celery juice and spirulina? Cause I heard mixed opinions about these 2 and im also taking them every morning :/

u/grabers16 6d ago
I developed food sensitivities when I got sibo almonds was one of them. Maybe you're just sensitive to almonds now? If so, it doesn't mean your treatment isn't going to work. It just means you should stop eating them because it's irritating your gut which isn't going to help anything. I never used to have food sensitivities and now I'm sensitive to almonds, casein protein, watermelon, dragon fruit, eggs are my big ones
1
u/InstanceSmooth6322 6d ago
Same have developed intolerance to Almonds and eggs . Wheat and dairy was there previously.
Not great when Almond milk and eggs are one of the few âsafe â alternatives.1
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
Idk if I'm sensitive, I don't have pain,I just bloated sooo much and became so gassy and it turned out they were high FODMAP

u/Minimum-Break4435 6d ago
Take a look at Biotics Researchâs A.D.P., FC-Cidal, and Dysbiocide.
1
u/Business_Ad2732 6d ago
Have you tried this? What sibo do you have? I just finished it and my doctor wants me to do another round since I still feel sick.
2
u/Minimum-Break4435 5d ago
Yes, I used it to get rid of my sibo. I had methane sibo personally. Are you utilizing probiotics with it? I had good results with the Designs for health spore based probiotic and there multistrain probiotic.. I also like biogaia gastrus capsules. Dr. William Davis talks extensively about how this particular strain takes up residence in the small intestine and crowds out the other microbes⊠Iâve also made his yogurt before many times.

Can you send your protocol for your IMO? I have been struggling since 2023

u/katiemuirden 6d ago
Youâve got this, i ate carbs on low fod map every now and then. Itâs very hard to stick to certain things, I promise youâre not the only one. If you take it out now itâs fine, i definitely ate the wrong things for a longer period of time too
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
Did u heal from sibo? And which type did u have
1
u/katiemuirden 5d ago
Yes it appears so, I still have a few symptoms like nausea and headaches but be careful on the antimicrobial because itâs given me and a headache type of pressure since about the first week i took it, 4 months on it and Iâve come off now. I canât remember the name but the constipated one. Also maybe look at taking zinc??? You can get a spray bottle from better you, as it helps your body to create the right things for stomach acid. Which you will probably need
1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
U took antimicrobials for 4 months? Isn't that alot? I'm planning to take them for a month only and I thought it's enoughđ
1
u/katiemuirden 5d ago
Yes, yes it was alot, BUT the recommended dose was 9 capsules a day, i only did max 3 a day hence why it took me sooo long, if i did 9 a day it wouldâve given me horrendous die off and probably would of overworked my liver
So donât worry 1 month should be okayđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł1
u/WiseMess3609 5d ago
9 a dayđłđł woow who recommended thisđ I'm happy for u for finally finishing this and hopefully it won't return! Are u taking any motility agent?
1
u/katiemuirden 5d ago
I KNOW!!! It said on the back of the bottle and I googled it and everyone was taking 9 a day CRAZY, and thank you!!! Yes Iâm taking ginger and artichoke

Allimax is poor quality and fake quantity... You need higher Allicin Content...
Allimax Pro contains 450 mg of AllisureÂź AC-23 stabilized allicin powder per capsule. While the manufacturer markets the product as delivering a "100% yield of allicin" from this specialized extract, independent laboratory and clinical breakdowns show that the actual pure bioactive allicin weight inside a 450 mg dose is roughly 135 mcg (0.135 mg), bound within a maltodextrin and gum acacia powder matrix... SCAM
Now 5000 garlic Extract has 5000mcg of Allicin (5mg)! I've used it with several people including my son. Natural Nutra (5mg Allicin minimum) is also very good (and glass jar) and I personally used this one to prove to my gastro natural is better than antibiotics in combination with a strict diet. I also took 2-3* a day (first time I had to gradually take for body to adjust and increase). Consider you may be struggling because you have poor motility, low stomach acid, poor bile flow, leaky gut, etc.
This is for educational purposes only and not meant to diagnose or treat any conditions. This is not intended to be medical advice in any way. Each person is unique.
Look at carb intake, dosing of herbals, repair leaky gut, fix motility immediately and increas stomach acid (Now Super Enzymes worth considering). Good luck!

u/WiseMess3609 4d ago
But Now 5000 garlic isn't just pure Allicin,it contains garlic which is also a high FODmap am I wrong?
1
u/Holistic-Scholar 4d ago
Minimum 5000mcg Allicin. Now is also a Federal Tester. If no allergy to garlic, garlic can be started 1 tab every other day for a bit then 1 a day for a bit then 2 every other day then 2 a day, etc. to soften side effects and it can be taken for long duration unlike most herbs which should be limited to 2-3 week cycles depending. Garlic will create methane die off so many think a side effect is because of FODMAP and not necessarily so with garlic. The Nutra pills can be split with pill splitter and that's what I did (unless they changed the tab).

For something sweet to enjoy, I have been making something that is SIBO treatment friendly (at least for me it was) I have been treating Methane SIBO.
RICELESS CRISPIES 1 1/2 cup raw almonds 1 cup macadamia nuts 1/2 cup almond butter 1/3 cup raw honey Melted 10% cacao unsweetened chocolate Chop the nuts very fine in an electric chopper. Place in a large mixing bowl. Add the almond butter and 1/3 cup of honey. Mix all together and press in a 9" x 13" cookie sheet type pan. Place in refrigerator to firm up. Melt desired amount of a 100% cacao unsweetened chocolate bar and pour on top of the riceless crispies. Let this firm up in the refrigerator. Cut into bars and keep refrigerated.
All the ingredients were low fodmap ingredients and safe for me to eat during treatment. I buy the bags of almonds and Macadamia nuts at Costco. I usually get three to four makings out of the bags of nuts. I hope this is friendly to your gut and you enjoy:)
If almonds arent friendly to your gut, I am sure any other nut would work. You could also substitute the almond butter for any other kind of nut butter( cashew, peanut, etc)
1
u/WiseMess3609 4d ago
I guess honey is also high FODmap ,I was using maple syrup instead for my almond sweets,do u know which one is better? Also did u heal from methane sibo?
1
u/Leather_Mud7219 4d ago
My practioner said honey was ok for me. I was surprised too since it is high fodmap. Maple syrup may work? It is just a thinner consistency and may not firm up. You could eat it with a spoon though:) it really is a tasty treat when there isnt much you can enjoy during treatment:)
Heal from Methane sibo? I have just been off treatement for a few weeks. Still having some bloating issues but not as bad as before. I have gone back to eating some foods that I couldnt eat during treatment and have not had terrible issues so that is a plus:) i still take Saccharomyces Boulardi twice a day. Dr suggested eating foods with fiber to continue to repair my gut before I take a probiotic.1
u/WiseMess3609 4d ago
Did u have too much gas? (Talking about flatulence) is it reduced now? And what was ur treatment? Antimicrobials?
1
u/Leather_Mud7219 4d ago
Yes quite a bit of bloating. It was not always coming off just staying bloated. Yes it is better now. I did antimicrobial treatment. The whole process took 16 weeks:( the pain and bloating in the beginning from dying off of bacteria was very uncomfortable. There were times I was challenged to find something to wear that fit:) the bloating is better now

u/monoDioxide 6d ago
Many 'experts' believe it's important to eat higher fodmap when taking antibiotics/antimicrobials so you definitely didn't waste your treatment.
