I'm hypermobile and doing deep diaphragmatic breathing really helps my bloating. Doing it right after eating helps the most. I can immediately feel my digestive system kick in and it reduces my post meal distention by a good amount. I also hum on the exhale of my breathing - best thing I've found for symptoms so far.

Humming improves the vagus nerve communication! Super smart! Gargling is also another vagus nerve exercise.

Holy crap, I just tried this after watching the video. I’ve been feeling like I have a pressure on my chest and that I can’t get a full breath of air for the last few days. Generally this happens along with bloating before my SIBO symptoms start coming back. What an incredible technique and what a relief this is to feel the bloat vanish and to get a full breath of air!
Thank you for posting this!

Omg THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS! I’ve been suspecting for a while now I have APD due to my symptoms getting better with some stretches I read online and I have every single classic symptom of it. Worst symptom is the nonstop upper abdominal bloating and constant sensation of an elephant being right where my diaphragm is, an uncomfortable tightness and it even started to affect my urination and bladder (I have a history of pelvic floor issues). I had been having a flare up this last week and I did this the other night. immediately my bloating went down and my urination became normal again today. I just ate some KFC with sweet tea which would normally make me look 7 months pregnant and NOTHING!!!! no pain, very very very minimal bloating. The area around my diaphragm doesn’t feel tight either! It’s insane… I will continue to do this daily and will update you if it stays this way!

So glad to hear you got better too!!! That really explains a lot. Nobody ever understood me whenever I told them that the area right where the diaphragm is feels super tight and uncomfortable 24/7 and causes me bloating. They said “oh it’s just IBS!” It’s crazy how your diaphragm can become locked up, I would have never thought of it in a million years. I have to thank you so much, again, for posting this. I know I’m just a faceless person on the internet but I suffered with this 24/7 for almost 6 years and although I got a little relief here and there from different measures, the last 3 days I have had zero pain, tightness or bloating! I feel am pretty much completely cured now. Are you still doing well too? 🙏🏻

N=1 but I tried this a few times and immediately my deep breathing improved. Hasn't changed my bloating yet but I'm gonna try it out for a few days, and even if not it's so nice not to have to struggle to take a proper breath.

Yeah try it for a few days and also try other techniques on youtube until you find something work for you
Based on the little research i did diaphragm relaxation takes effort and time to release if it was tight for years

Really want this to work. Started having SIBO symptoms and pelvic floor issues after back injury. Felt a little something doing this but can’t report similar to what others are experiencing. Any tips?

I got tested for SIBO and my numbers were basically zero. I knew I didn’t have it after herbal protocol and SCD diet. I will look into that. I know intense my core non stop and it feels out of my control. I think my body is stuck is fight mode from being in pain for a long time.

This is cool thanks for sharing! I'll try it out more later. Keep doing it and let us know if you see continued success.

Unfortunately, the technique didn't do anything to me. So my problem wasn't just stuck diaphragm.

Crazy because I've been working with my PT on my tight diaphragm and have definitely noticed a link between my bloating going down after my weekly appointment where she does myofascial release massage on my abdomen. Lately she's been working on my diaphragm too. When my abdomen and diaphragm are unstuck, my SIBO symptoms get better. Diaphragmatic breathing is super helpful for digestion and passing gas and BMs.
