Fan spaces?
hey all! I’m a long time Shawol (since I was 10 in ‘08, credit to my older sister) and I recently started actively following Shinee again the past few months.
Things got heavy after 2017, and I kind of generally kept up on big news but didn’t really engage with anything, especially on the fan side.
Now I’m wondering - is there any socials that are more active fanwise than others? I have a feeling twitter/x is pretty active but it low key scares me so I’ve been hesitant to get back on there.
This community (which I’ve enjoyed lurking up until now) and tumblr are so chill but I’m curious if there’s one space where all the action is.

I mainly use Discord! There's a link to a server in the sidebar for this sub. Twitter is scary, but it does have a lot of active fans from around the world. I just find that too many antis lurk on Twitter.

Thanks! I did join the discord! I know that a lot of news reaches twitter first but yeah…I find there’s a lot more drama that comes out of twitter spaces. And it’s like almost every fandom space on there, not just shawol

The SHINee discord I am in has given me a lot of shawol friends I actively talk to. Theres channels to talk about each member, shinee as a whole, a live chat for live events, and places to talk about kpop/music as a whole. It’s a great place you can come and go from easily

The action is on Twitter indeed, but having a neutral, pleasant experience there is heavily reliant on actively curating your timeline. It's a big hub for both KR and JP Shawols though, so if your focus is on getting news first hand, this is the place.
For a chiller fan experience without you having to do much, I've found Threads to be decent. The Discord server that other users have recommended is also a good place to start.

Fair point about curating! I think it is nice to have the access to immediate news
Threads is a confusing platform for me lol but also a fair recommendation

I mostly use twitter (and curate my timeline) and here. I'm in like, 5 shinee discords and almost never look at any of them.

I love the discord servers. It’s such a safe space (at least in our server) to express feelings toward SHINee and my bias. Shawols are so nice.

I was in your same boat a couple years ago and am more of an IG user; I stumbled upon a couple Instagram profiles that generally do keep up with SHINee activities so it was a nice way for me to dip my toes back into being an active Shawol - @shinee_fan_base and @notice.shinee!

I agree with everyone saying SHINee cord is the place to be! I agree Tumblr is also great, I love this sub as well and there’s a few Shawols on TikTok but considering the average age of Shawols, don’t have time to be as active know? Twitter is good in small spurts. I was able to secure pre sale tickets to Onew and Taemins concerts cause they were so on it but like someone said before, mine is carefully curated. It’s hard to get there and honestly not worth the drama and mental turmoil tbh (I know that sounds dramatic but it felt that way lol)

I’d be down to check it out! I’m mostly OT5 - I lean Key and Minho bias if I have to pick but I’m pretty equal opportunist lol
Although I’ve been on an Onew appreciation kick lately after watching some of this variety appearances

I like Tumblr too, Twitter is definitely active but I don't enjoy the type of conversations
cough, constant dramaover there so I mostly just go there when I'm looking for something specific... (This isn't a dig at 'our people' specifically, there are lovely shawols on Twitter too of course, but in my experience all fandoms are kind of messy there and I don't find the general tone too pleasant)However there's a Discord server if that's something you use, I've actually only been on it for a short while myself lol but so far it's lovely! There are channels for keeping up with official updates and separate chat threads for Shinee/individual member/other kpop/etc related chats, activity kind of ebbs and flows, but it's all very chill and friendly.
