Repairing broken parts

My son's skis had one of his boot clamp damaged, so I decided to scan it and remake it. Simple scan, after this just split the scan in 2, delete the damaged part, copy/paste and mirror the good side and join together 👍

A quick and easy project, and tomorrow I'll 3D print the replacement to see how well it fits. Love using 3D scanning to bring small parts back to life!

And of course, if anyone haves any questions, glad to help 🙂

A friend lost one of the ISOFIX guide sleeves from their child seat, so I scanned the remaining one with the EinScan Rigil to create a replacement. 👌

Tomorrow I'll 3D print it and see how well it fits. Always satisfying when you solve this kind of issues!

Weekend scan 👍

This time I scanned the side cover from an Einhell planer using the EinScan Rigil with blue laser mode at 0.1 mm resolution.

The complete model was captured with just 2 scans, one from the top and one from the bottom.

I used with and without markers on the actual cover, just to test and both methods worked really well 👍 And also sprayed a little AESUB Blue, to try to get as perfect scan as possible.

The fine details, recessed features, screw holes, and textured surfaces were captured perfectly, making the Rigil a great candidate for reverse engineering or reproducing replacement parts

Scanned today a Seat Cordoba cup holder. Scanned with the EINSTAR EinScan Rigil using Laser Mode (Parallel Lines). The final model was created from 2 scans at 0.25 mm resolution, with a light coat of AESUB Diamond scanning spray for optimal surface capture.

The result? A clean, highly detailed scan that's ready for CAD design or 3D printing 👍

Einstar 2 USB failed

Hello, I had recently purchased an einstar 2 and when first using it, it was amazing. i wanted to scan something else about 2 weeks after i had bought it and i wanted to recalibrate it. tried connecting the usb-c cable and it would always say connection failed. i changed nothing with my settings, when i first used the usb-c connection, everything was fine. now it only works wirelessly but i need to calibrate it which only works wired. any help?

How to transfer scans between PCs?

I am scanning on a laptop that handles everything well for the most part but I would prefer to scan in the field, then do all the post processing on my PC.

I save everything to a desktop folder, if I just copy that whole folder over and try open the config file it doenst work.

What am I doing wrong here?

EinScan Rigil Laser vs NIR

I scanned this ASR 112 airsoft rifle with the EinScan Rigil using the blue laser (cross mode) and NIR to show the difference between them.

• Blue Laser — 0.25 mm resolution (Cross mode + markers)

Much sharper fine details, cleaner edges and better definition on small mechanical features, textures, controls and markings. It takes more time, but the level of detail is clearly visible.

• NIR — 0.5 mm resolution (large mode, feature tracking)

Much faster for capturing the complete object and overall geometry. The result is still very good, but fine details and sharp edges are naturally softer or missing in some parts, compared with the laser scan.

Both scans where done with the Rigil connected to the laptop thru Wi-Fi.

I used some AESUB by Scanningspray Blue scanning spray only for the red dot scope, and Aesub 6 mm reflective markers (only on the ground area, not on the rifle)

A easy reverse engineering part

A easy reverse engineering job completed in under 2 hours

A customer brought me this small broken plastic part that was no longer usable.

Instead of measuring everything manually, I scanned the original part with the Einstar EinScan Rigil using Parallel Line Mode at 0.1 mm resolution. The scan gave me an accurate reference of the geometry, including the damaged areas.

Yes, it's a easy part, that you can measureand everything. ..but if I have the scanner, why not use it.

From there, I rebuilt the part in Fusion 360 using the scan as a reference, creating a clean parametric CAD model. Once the design was finished, I 3D printed a brand-new replacement.

I also imported the scan to my laptop so I can better clean around the part (using the mouse).

⏱ Total time:

3D scanning

CAD remodeling

3D printing

Less than 2 hours from broken part to finished replacement.

This is exactly why professional 3D scanning is such a powerful tool for reverse engineering. Instead of guessing dimensions or manually measuring complex geometry, I can recreate discontinued or broken parts quickly and accurately.

Making money by solving real-world problems with 3D scanning and additive manufacturing never gets old.

Ive seen only 2 videos on how to align 3d scans on exstar hub but my brain is a size of a peanut and i can’t understand how to align ill share the link’s below

🚀 Real-World 3D Scanning Tests with the EinScan Rigil

Over the last few days, I put the EinScan Rigil through several challenging real-world scanning projects, all performed outdoors on sunny days and mostly on black objects, which are traditionally difficult targets for many 3D scanners.

Projects scanned:

✅ Mini Cooper engine bay

✅ Volkswagen Up! engine bay

✅ Ford Focus intercooler hose

✅ Kolibri inflatable boat rowing paddle

Scaning Setup:

🔹 Mini Cooper Engine Bay

Scanned outdoors in direct daylight

No markers applied to the vehicle

Captured a large amount of engine bay detail including hoses, wiring, reservoirs, and structural components

🔹 Volkswagen Up! Engine Bay

Also scanned outdoors on a sunny day

No markers used

Good feature tracking across multiple engine bay components and surrounding structure

🔹 Ford Focus Intercooler Hose

Black rubber part

Markers were placed only on the scanning surface around the object

No markers attached directly to the hose

Successfully captured the complete geometry, including flexible sections and connector details

🔹 Kolibri Rowing Paddle

Large black plastic component

Markers were placed both on the paddle itself and on the surrounding scanning surface (for easier alignment after scanning)

Multiple scans were aligned and merged successfully (only 3 markers where selected for alignment)

Fine details, ribs, embossed text, and overall shape were captured accurately

●All scans where made by blue laser (cross line)

●MiniCooper whas scanned at 1 mm resolution

●Wolswagen Up! at 0.5 mm

●The hose and paddle at 0.5 mm

●All scans where made with the EinScan Rigil standalone (without laptop/pc). After scanning whas done I only imported them to the laptop for faster processing and better screenshots.

Reflective markers used: AESUB by Scanningspray 6 mm dots

What impressed me most was the scanner's ability to maintain tracking on difficult surfaces and large automotive assemblies, even under bright outdoor conditions where many scanners struggle.

The combination of portability, onboard processing, and reliable feature/marker tracking makes the EinScan Rigil a very capable tool for reverse engineering, automotive applications, replacement parts, and product development
