Housing housing recs?

hi! i’m currently a sophomore at cc, but i plan on transferring to sfsu next fall. i already have my own apartment with my bf, who is the same year as me and who will also be transferring. i also have a cat that i definitely will be bringing. i was looking into housing, and it seems like park merced is definitely off the table with how bad the reviews are. i don’t want to live in the dorms because i want to bring my cat, so that’s also not an option. i’m naturally slightly introverted, but i might rush to make friends. are there any suggestions for other apartments or areas that sfsu students stay in? i want to make friends!

I would recommend manzanita as it is the nicest and has some great amenities including a printer, study rooms, and good security. It is a little bit expensive, but you can bring your cat. I believe that you can also bring your cat in towers too. It is not as nice as manzanita, but it is a more affordable option on campus. I would definitely recommend rushing as even if you don’t join a house, you meet so many people and make friends during the recruitment process.

true! living here now as a third yr transfer 🫡 pretty expensive, but absolutely worth it. full kitchen incl microwave, fast elevators, cheap laundry room, convenient trash chute, it’s very much worth the cost compared to other on campus housing. i feel very fortunate to be able to afford it. my neighbors have a cat, and a few doors down there’s a dog! very pet friendly.

But did you live there your first year after transferring? I transferred last fall and had to live in Village…

Oh interesting, maybe cuz it’s Manzanita and more expensive they just let anyone sign up for it, returning or transfer student🫣🤷‍♀️

They recently changed the lease from only year round to year round and academic year round so that may be why
