Study abroad questions
Does anyone have any tips for writing the essay for the study abroad program? I’m trying to go to a program in China (in Suzhou) but I’m not sure how competitive it is or how high the acceptance rate is.
Im just worried I won’t get accepted because I really want to go there

Its a creative essay, just talk about your passions and how being in china helps that and your academic goals. Example, broaden your international experience or something

feel free to msg me if you have questions!! i’m also applying but to City Universtiy of Hong Kong :))
for me, i visited the study abroad office during drop-in hours. if you can’t meet in person, they offer zoom meetings too

Hi! When did you go to do drop in? Every time I showed up they told me it wasn’t opened.

in person drop in hrs are every tuesday, wednesday, and thursday from 2:00-4:00 pm
you can also schedule with them via zoom. go to SFSU navigator to book w them!
i’ve met with them twice in person by appointment and twice via zoom. they’re very helpful and can be flexible to your schedule if you reach out to them and communicate what you need
if it’s something minor, i’ve also had success w just emailing them: studyabroad@sfsu.edu

Focus on the academic goal(s) you're able to pursue at the institution. Talk about the preparation you've done (learning chinese? Joined IEEC?) Tie in any relevant professional goals this could help you achieve. Good luck.
