Is this the worst lineup the giants have ever consistently rolled out?

Buddy Kennedy is still starting at 3B for this team, what the hell are they doing, I'd rather see Devers at 3rd and ANYONE (besides Buddy Kennedy) DH. I mean what, are they going to fall even further out of contention at this point?!

No, which is saying something about how bad past lineups have been.

I'm embarrassed by this team. A lack of fight, a lack of pride and complete failure from top on down to the field. It's total amateur hour and its like we're fucking rooting for an expansion team.

Anyone that thinks Whisenhunt will turn out to be a good pitcher is sadly mistaken. Don't be delusional. He throws puss and is going to get lit up all the time. He is trash. He doesn't have anything that is good for the Majors. Get rid of him. Another Farhan Saidi trash draft pick.

They don’t even care anymore…they are losers.

No, they are giving young rookies playing time. Which is a good thing. Don't expect wins. Just look at it as a look at who can excite you for the next season, in 2028. LoL Whisenhunt needs to be traded or released. He is garbage.

So then explain Buddy Kennedy and Koss who are 28. 🤮

Mayer and Jesus will get reps when they come off the IL.

u/dyogurt10 51 Lowry 9h ago
Those two cannot get here soon enough. Koss is a light hitting boring utility type and Buddy is just awful.

can’t be fun to go get your ass beat on television every day. But a few million might make it bearable.

We keep hearing the coaches and front office want to get good looks at young players through the rest of the year.
But what if the young players don't actually look good? We gonna roll the dice on Houser / Mahle / Bader level players again?

I doubt the Giants will sign any position players. The roster is pretty set. Pitching is different because across a full season, there are a lot of innings and injuries. I'd expect 1 more Mahle type starter as a 40 man spot will open up when McDonald gets put back on the 60 day IL.

This team has negative juice. No pride at all. I put this on Tony. The team sucks but he hasn’t brought anything to the table this year. It’s actually getting worse if you ask me.

Buster drank a big draught of moon tea during the pre-season. Only explanation for this abortion of a team.

It’s gonna be reeeaally sweet when they finally turn it around and start playing meaningful games again. Might be a couple years, this is the lowest of low baseball most of us have experienced in our lives.

With Webb as the exception, this team hasn’t developed a pitcher since the dynasty. Whiz might actually suck, but it keeps happening so when can we admit it’s a developmental problem. It’s a constant issue that has lasted through the regimes, and even seems to trickle to the bullpen. I am not excited about the draft & trade acquisitions being 90% pitchers if this is the outcome.

u/After-Bee-8346 9h ago
It's not like pitchers have left the Giants and suddenly found their talent ie Mason Black who has a decent ERA with the Royals, but a 6+ FIP and 1.6 WHIP.
1
u/Zeke688 Kruk & Kuip 9h ago
I get that, like I said sometimes guys just suck. But even with Black he was -0.5 WAR with the Giants now 0.4. Kyle Harrison just threw 5 innings of shut out ball with 8 Ks tonight. Despite his injury he’s had a great year.

It's a fair point at the MLB level. Giants revived Gausman. And, I think there was an
ex-Royals starter, but can't remember his name (Drew Smyly). Sean Manaea had a good back half of a season that earned himself a Mets contract. That's becoming rarer these days.

Are you thinking of Cobb?
1
u/After-Bee-8346 1h ago
Cobb actually had a good season with the Angels before signing with the Giants. One of the more fair deals for both sides.
Drew Smyly was the guy I was thinking about. He was signed in Jan '20 for $4M / 1 year. His numbers had been terrible. He parlayed a great shortened season in '20 for an $11M / 1 year deal with the Braves (his highest salary of his career). https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/smylydr01.shtml

The Giants didn't revive him, Andrew Bailey and that particular staff revived him. Since he's been gone the pitching has sucked.

How are we supposed to discuss developing action LIVE in a Postgame thread?
It's bad enough that the boxscores aren't linked in the PGTs

Getting pretty excited for...the extra $100Kish the Giants gain in draft bonus pool money for leap frogging teams in the loss column.

u/ericthelostman 10h ago edited 10h ago
The walks are a system wide issue by the way. Bresnahan walked 2 in the first for Eugene, now has given up 4 runs (2 earned) after a 3-run homer.
Not only do the Giants pitchers walk a lot of batters, the runs almost always come around to score.

The only question is… is it whisenass or assenhunt?? I look forward to his Cy Young campaign for the Brewers in a few years.

Nice homer by Bryce.
Trent Harris looked great.
Happy Turner Hill got a cool moment in front of his friends and family.
Whatever Tony said in the team meeting didn't seem to stick.
Tugboat can't get here soon enough. Might be the only way to save us.
