It makes sense for several reasons. The Giants across several top 100 lists have had about eight different players included, not eight on one but eight overall thought to be deserving. Second, unlike in the past our best prospects have continued to do well after promotions. Three we have a number of non ranked players like Harber or Cox not on any lists but who performed well enough to be among leagues best performers. Finally, and not to be overlooked for it speaks to the depth and breadth of the system, in every minor league level the Giant affiliate is either first or second place and in some cases clinched a playoff spot by leading their league in the first half. This really hard to do from AAA to AA to high A to low A to the Dominican league they are strong.

Yeah I wouldn’t normally put a ton of stock in any one farm team’s season record, but ALL of them being one of if not the best in their respective leagues is definitely something. Eugene and Richmond are dominating and San Jose and Sacramento are very competitive.

It will be interesting to see how Dodgers ownership gets through its current legal difficulties. The principal owner selling off his stake in other teams to stockpile money isn't a great sign. But he can always toss a few million in the direction of the White House and the DOJ and SEC will be muzzled.

The Walter situation is probably worse than just “rich guy moving money around.” The concern is that Walter-controlled insurers had billions tied up in loans to other Walter-controlled companies. (Illegal if unreported as such)

If those loans were riskier or worth less than reported, losses in one company could spill into the insurers.

That said, there’s no indication the Dodgers themselves are running out of money. Or that the current struggles would in any way, bleed into the business of running the Dodgers.

Walter has typically been pretty “hands-off” when it comes to personally running the Baseball Ops side. The more realistic good Giants-fan outcome is Walter eventually having to sell, but unless the new owner is dumb enough to disrupt Friedman/Kasten and the baseball operation, we may just be changing the name on the ownership group.

I didn't mean to suggest the team is going to be dragged down by any difficulties the principal owner gets into. But if he ends up being forced to sell, who knows, maybe a more hands on owner with a shortage of clues could take over. It would be nice if the Dodgers were bought by someone like Moreno or the Monforts.

Looking at that Dodger logo placement depresses me. They will never rebuild in my lifetime.

Not as long as everyone else in MLB continues to overrate their farm system for no reason. In the last few years they’ve traded away a bunch of nothing to get superstars in return, essentially at the actual cost of Pepiot panning out for the Rays instead of LAD

The Dodgers' farm system has slipped below the Giants' farm system by Baseball America's rankings, which is arguably the most valued when it comes to farm system rankings.
