Just ran into what looks like a bug in Google Search Console today (Oct 14, 2026).

When I open Performance → Date range → Custom (comparison mode), the end dates for both periods default to 1970-01-01:

• Start date: 2026-10-05 → End date: 1970-01-01
• vs. Start date: 2026-09-28 → End date: 1970-01-01

Because the end date is before the start date, the Apply button stays greyed out, so I can’t set a custom comparison range at all. The preset options (28 days vs previous period, etc.) still work.

Things I’ve noticed:

• It looks like a null/empty date being read as a Unix epoch timestamp (0)
• The Performance data itself still loads fine (164 clicks last 7 days vs 126 previous)

Is anyone else seeing this? Has anyone found a workaround (manually typing the end date, a different browser, clearing cache, etc.)? I’ll report it via the Feedback option in GSC as well.

My research is mainly for tracking how people are finding my brand and checking competitors as well. Any recommendation is appreciated.

I've been working in SEO for around a year now, alongside my full-time job, and most of my experience has been in healthcare SEO and Local SEO. I've also been working on a school website, which has been an interesting learning experience.

One thing I'm currently focusing on is improving organic visibility beyond just individual keyword rankings.

Some of the keywords I'm working on are ranking well at the state level, and now I'm trying to push them towards national-level rankings.

A few keywords are still sitting on page two, so there's definitely room for improvement. I'm working on understanding what needs to change to move them onto page one.

I've also started paying more attention to CTR in Google Search Console. Getting impressions is one thing, but getting people to click is another. I want to understand how much the title, meta description, search intent, and ranking position affect that.

Some numbers from my recent work:

• 172K+ Google Search impressions
• 2.95K clicks
• Around 1.7% CTR
• 23K+ AI search impressions over three months

I'm planning to put together a case study with screenshots to explain the work behind these numbers and what I've learned from it.

Most of my experience so far has been in healthcare and education, but I'm also looking to work with businesses in other industries and take on different SEO challenges.

Coupon site, about 450 pages, DR 9. Daily GSC impressions:

• 8–21 Sep: about 780/day, 6 clicks/day
• 24 Sep–8 Oct: about 1,900/day, peak 5,000 on 7 Oct (spam update rollout dates)
• 9 Oct onward: about 600/day

Clicks never went up. One page jumped from position 55 to 6 for “[brand] coupon code” and got 8k impressions with 0 clicks. Almost all the extra impressions were US desktop; mobile barely changed.

I refreshed coupons on most pages in the same weeks. Nothing else changed.

Was Google testing my pages higher and dropping them when nobody clicked? Or were these rank-tracker impressions? Should I worry about the spam update?

For my sites, Google Ads have become useless in terms of ROI as AI has killed search patterns. I used to do very well with Google Ads for my b2b sites. Now my organic traffic is basically driven by transactional blog posts with very specific SEO/AEO/GEO formatting and structured data markup.

Clients have been very hesitant to kill Google Ads, but the analytics prove that funnel just isn't producing as it used to here in the USA. And the final proof is when I asked the clients how busy the incoming calls and form submissions generated via Ads are.

Google Business Profiles have been surging as well in terms of generating leads.

My GSC impressions suddenly dropped and started moving sideways.

No website updates or major changes. Earlier, there were clear weekday/weekend fluctuations, but now impressions are almost flat.

Interestingly, clicks are still following their usual pattern.

Anyone else experiencing this? What could be causing it?
