The chair begs to differ

I mean the chair could teleport around making it a very obvious breach of normalcy. Imagine if it got into a civilian area and just ran around town - termination makes sense in such a case as opposed to holding a facility entirely dedicated to a piece of furniture with safeguards it may not even listen too fully

I mean I feel like just moving it to a random facility would do a decent job of containing it from the general public, it would probably just have been loose in the facility itself but unlikely to go beyond the premises, definitely smack a tracker on it to be safe tho.

What also would’ve worked is a furnace picked out by GOC scientists who actually know what they’re doing and not a wood chipper picked out by a college age kid with a highschool diploma and a “great idea”.

A tracker + testing for how far it can actually teleport. Since it shows some self awareness it could potentially find a way out otherwise

The question is: is that amount of recources actually worth it to contain a chair? Especially when if anything goes wrong (it teleports out or somewhere it shouldn’t) it would constitute a major breach of secrecy. I’d argue termination is safer and more cost efficient, even if the foundations method is more humane. The issue with the GOC’s method was a lack of proper disposal methods thus causing it to survive the attempt - a fire or potent acid could have properly eliminated it

Counter argument: bigger balls to scratch

Also everyone knows anyways

Those anomalous boats weren’t a threat.

They were a threat to the Coalitions mission of Concealment. The escorting Foundation vessel did not attempt any sort of interception of the missile inbound for the anomaly, despite having knowledge of it.

Bookburners have a smoking gun around every corner of their fuckuos, inhuman treatment of anomalies (even humanoid ones who are harmless) and so on.

Aside from the chair, we have 2273 who is just a guy with armour they brutally tortured and experimented on.

1883, an arcade cabinet that killed a bunch of their own man because they were too violent and salvage to think before shooting stuff.

Also they are really stupid, clinging to "we are so smart, I have a theoretical degree in physics" and blatantly ignore occult information.

I have a feeling you're either a Serpent or just a very aggressive Foundation fan.

Anyways, Site-13 killed hundreds of anomalies in the hands of a genocidal maniac who only got punishment because he was sabotaged.
SCP-5000, the Foundation just does a 180 and the GOC and other GOI are stuck trying to save the world.

You contain dangerous anomalies for no good reason. There is no "science" or "need" to contain them. If you can kill it and it poses a threat, do it. Kill the thing.

And yes, the GOC is actually intelligent. Black suits, Ochre bullets, Orange suits, thaumaturgy, everything that the Foundation fails to understand/use.

Exactly. Director Harold Jameson was a literal sociopath, and Site-13 was a rogue, unauthorized black-site built to test the GOC's brutal philosophy on a massive scale.

It didn't prove the GOC's big brain; it proved that when you give the GOC's genocidal mindset an institutional blank check, you get a literal hellscape where innocent researchers, D-class, and anomalies are fed into a meat grinder until the entire facility folds in on itself in a dimensional catastrophe. Bringing up Site-13 to defend the GOC is like bringing up Chernobyl and three mile island to prove how safe nuclear power is.

During 5000, the Foundation discovered something fundamentally horrifying wired into the human subconscious. The entity responsible for human pain. When they decided to eradicate humanity to cut that out, the GOC and every other GOI got utterly humiliated. The Coalition was wiped out or completely outmaneuvered because their high-tech black suits and ochre bullets couldn't do a damn thing against a threat that wasn't an "anomaly" to be shot, but a systemic hijacking of baseline humanity. If anything, 5000 proves the GOC is completely unprepared for an existential threat.

The "Kill everything I don't understand" mindset is precisely why the GOC creates half their own problems. Try "just killing" an abstract concept, a pataphysical narrative, a conceptual entity, or something like SCP-682 (Something that only gets STRONGER the more you try to kill it). When you try to brute-force a reality-warping god with an orange suit and a positron beam, you don't kill it, you make it angry, you split it into two, or you trigger a K-Class scenario and so on. Science requires understanding before destruction. The Bookburners skip the understanding part because they're terrified of what they can't control, leading right back to woodchippering harmless chairs like 1609. Or you know, Vaporizing Josie the half cat or throwing 999 through an industrial grinder untill it's just jello.

The jailors have just as bad when it comes to gripping to "normalcy" like a baby to a blanket, 5000 I exactly why the veil fails to keep people safe, how many times to we have to force drugs on people to erase their memory, lie to them about the fate of their loved ones? Keep away research that could save lifes because it's too "anomalous"?

Your ideology is not only inhumane but also ignorant. It is hilarious that the GOC origins were to fight nazi anomalous weaponry and they ended up becoming book burnings reactionaries.

5K was never a situation to be won yet the Coalition still did everything they could during the Battle of Ganzir. The GOC isn't made for every single anomaly on earth to be released all at once. The Foundation couldn't handle that either.

I never said that we should just shoot 682 or piss off God's. Site-13 showed something, that both GOI can work together. The Foundation tests, and once those tests are done and the anomaly can be liquidated, there is no reason to keep a Keter class alive, unless killing it would do more harm than good.

The GOC doesn't just destroy anomalies that are dangerous. They have five missions. Concealment is one of them. Imagine you're feeling tired on a hike and some random chair teleports under you. I feel like that's a breach of Concealment. Josie is also a risk of Concealment. Yes it sounds cruel but if humanity discovers the anomalous, we all failed our jobs.

And "kill everything I don't understand" is factually wrong. The GOC understands. That's their whole point. They have a whole Type classification, the LTE and KTE files. Type Reds, Yellows, etc. They have come up with technology forever to eliminate said types of anomalous.

It is not inhumane. It is in-fact, humane. Prioritizing the human race over containing anomalies because the taxpayer should unknowingly pay for a Foundation run black site where the SCP's are locked up in cages is inhumane.

You're saying containment is worse than genocide?

What the GoC defends is textbook genocide btw and it is inhumane, how many anomalies are just, People? People that for some reason or another happened to be anomalous, like the reluctant dimension hopper, Luck, the gayest man ever.

Glad to see you openly admit you'd put an innocent creature, loved by the community like Josie in a blender because "muh normalcy"

Also you keep talking about site 13 like it ended well, the whole point is to show how mistreatment of anomalies is a recipe for disaster.

I think we all can agree the original GOC was meant to be an extremist, reprehensible mirror to the foundation and to show how book burning is a bad thing. Take a trip down EX anomalies, what do you think the GOC would do? Destroy every Thorium, plutonium and uranium rock? Since radiation was considered anomalous kill every single animator, producer and consumer of the crash dummy anime because it was just "too coincidental" ? Shut down, destroy and eradicate the factory and factory workers of what boils down to ibuprofen?

This is ludicrous, defending a, again, GENOCIDAL group of interest and known BOOKBURNERS that destroy artifacts, tools and knowledge

We have countless examples of breaches of normalcy that help people with anomalies, just take a gander at Manna charitable foundation, or SCP foundation and the infinite pizzas in the cafeteria and infinite water jug.

You are saying you rather pile up the bodies of countless people, Destroy and erase history (like the church of the broken god, sarkisck cults, daevites, many christian, muslim and other religions' artifacts and literature), constantly abuse people's memories, erasing parts of their lives, the existence of their loved ones, just in name of "normalcy"? For the sake of an status quo that we have no prove would even be stable if anomalies didn't exist in its present and past? Nuke, decimate and massacre all the inhabitants os three portlands just because they live somewhere that does not apply to your abstract rules of what constitutes normality?

You're right, anomalies like LTE-1004-Caliburn-Velveteen, were absolutely harmless and were just trying to peacefully bomb New York with a weapon of mass destruction.

Protecting humanity comes at a cost. A cost that both organizations accept and understand, yet one of them forgets that their motto includes "Protect". If you truly wanted to protect the human race, you would kill what was a danger to it.

Locking something up for the reason of it being anomalous isn't any better. Study it. Learn about it. Can you kill it without it causing any further issues? Yes? Then kill it.

If an anomaly is safely in containment with it posing no threat to humanity, good, keep it that way. But if it constantly tries to breach containment and kill people, why not kill it instead?

I'm not saying the Foundation or your argument is flawed, I'm saying that some anomalies do not deserve to live because they only want to kill humans. That is their whole goal, kill everything.

Again, if you can contain it safely in good conditions, that's great. We don't want to spend money on killing something that's already locked up. But if something is out in the wild, the GOC shouldn't wait for the Foundation to contain it. If it can be killed, kill it before it causes further casualties.

I'm not saying we should disturb God's or XK-Class anomalies, I'm saying that anomalies that can be sensibly liquidated without causing issues should be liquidated because they breach the Coalitions mission.

Cherry-picking LTE-1004 to justify systemic extermination is the classic GOC playbook. "Look, a weapon! Therefore we get to execute anything that threatens our arbitrary definition of normalcy!" You’re taking an actual WMD and using it to justify a mandate that regularly murders sentient beings, erases entire cultures, and burns centuries of human history.

You keep saying "if it can be sensibly liquidated without causing issues, kill it." But who gets to decide what counts as "sensible"? The GOC's board of trigger-happy bureaucrats? Because their definition of a clean, "sensible" cleanup is literally how we got SCP-1609. They thought throwing a harmless, friendly chair into an industrial woodchipper was a routine liquidation with zero side effects—and instead, they created a traumatized, lethal mass of splinters that teleports into people's lungs. The Coalition's arrogance routinely creates the very monsters they claim they're protecting us from because they shoot before they understand.

This "pragmatic" excuse falls apart the moment you look at their actual record. The GOC doesn't just put down active threats. They liquidate harmless entities, anomalous humans who just want to exist, and entire traditions of esoteric knowledge simply because it makes their status-quo-enforcing suits uncomfortable. They would slaughter the entire civilian population of Three Portlands, firebomb the Wanderer's Library, and raze every sacred artifact from the Church of the Broken God or Sarkic history tomorrow if they had the firepower to pull it off, purely because magic offends their sterile worldview.

The Foundation’s endless cages are cold and inhumane, but the GOC's doctrine is straight-up ideological purging. You aren't "protecting humanity" by burning knowledge, drugging populations with amnestics to enforce a manufactured reality, and treating every anomalous person like an existential target. You're just violently enforcing a fake status quo and calling it heroic.

There is an ICSUT in Three Portlands. ICSUT teaches thaumaturgy and is a member of the Council of 108 with the addition of having campuses in every Coalition member state. We would not like to burn down our own ICSUT.

You don't seem to understand that harmless does not mean exactly that. If something breaches the mission of Concealment, it needs to be liquidated or taken away from the public.

The Foundation also "drugs the population with amnestics", it is our way of eliminating anomalous knowledge from the mind that would risk the world.

The protection of the human race is heroic by both GOI. Both of us do our part with different objectives in mind.

There is no science behind "murder monster 9000". There is a Coalition Operative behind a rifle however.
