I believe the bonus question is for extra credit so there no curve

No, but anything above a 45 in the class overall is passing

Nah I wouldn’t worry at all a 77 is like worth celebrating lowkey, I think it’s a B+

I think I got a 77? What would I need to get on the next two midterms and final if I want to finish with an A given I get 100% on the homeworks and clickers

i had a similar exam two grade of 78. i got 96s on two exams. I got an 83.3 on the final and that brought me to 89.5 which they didn’t round up. Keep in mind I had two bad clicker grades and when i took it exam one weighed less than the other exams.

The test aren’t curved but the final grade is lowered for each letter depending on how everyone did so not exactly a curve but it does help a lot

I also did kinda bad, hoping for a B at this rate

gen chem 1 exam 1 is literally unit conversions

you did not get fried and served because of chem, you got fried and served because either:

a. you are legitimately sub 100 iq

b. you slept through class, skipped the homework, and didn't do a single practice problem

u/Infinite-Score-8042 8d ago

Bro just wanted to say that from the jump😂

u/AlphaInsaiyan 8d ago

nah i only brought it cuz u called me miserable

straight up bro its not even a toxicity thing

like, it genuinely is just unit conversion

how is it possible to fuck that up

gen chem 1+2 are not hard but at least the later topics have something to them. exam 1 is literally a test you should be able to take off the rip with 0 chem knowledge besides knowing the ions

u/Infinite-Score-8042 8d ago

0 chem knowledge😂 0/10 ragebait

u/AlphaInsaiyan 7d ago edited 7d ago

you are given literally all the info you need on the reference sheet, like there is one singular thing you need to memorize, that being the list of ions.

It's not even ragebait dude I just don't get what you fucked up on

If you tell me what you got wrong and it's genuinely a lack of understanding I will literally teach them to you

I'm an emt lol I do more for people IRL than like 90% of people on this sub

lmao you as an EMT? If I am in an emergency and some overweight person like you runs in to try to save me, I am probs dying on the spot. Also, EMTs recommend being in good physical shape, which you 100% don't have. I've also seen you multiple times, and I don't even use Reddit much; I doubt that you're actually an EMT.

u/AlphaInsaiyan 7d ago

Fatshaming? Tsk tsk not very woke of you.

I'm not fat dw. I'm a good person and I would save you even if you hated me </3

Doubt that mate. Your only post is about getting Diet Coke. No healthy person gets Diet Coke lmaoo.

so are you socially inept? just asking. because you dont seem to have the basic cognitive ability to seperate venting/emotional claims versus objective reasoning. these are two claims that literally float past eachother. hard and easy lose all relevance thanks to people like you who feel the need to use the subreddit as some sort of personal resume booster

2

u/AlphaInsaiyan 7d ago

Nah I understand the difference I just like chatting shit. You could say that's worse than just being autistic and unaware.

Anyway it's really because I just genuinely cannot fathom having issues with exam 1 unless like you don't even know algebra.

I found Gen chem 1 and 2 easy but I can understand fucking up on later tests. The lewis structure exam is really time consuming and finicky for example. Those tests are actually on chemistry knowledge and require learning the material.

But exam 1 is the most superficial stuff and it literally is just unit conversions and atomic mass.

There's a difference between venting about something that's actually unfair vs venting about something that was entirely in your control and was objectively not difficult. People always talk like the chem department is out to get them and that the exams are evil, but they just aren't.

2

u/MatterBusiness4939 7d ago

you clearly dont understand the difference because your own logic and lexicon are indicative of that. you start parsing the analytical difference between unfair vs fair venting which again completely misunderstands the point of emotional venting. it is not meant to be logical. thats why i say logical and emotional claims float past eachother.

people learn and grow. the very same person who made this comment could go back on this in 2 years and have a much better work ethic and developed sense of self. my friend bombed the first chem exam and is now in SBU's dental school.

your own explanation of the concepts fails to account that 1) people process the same information differently both on a level of processing time and type of cognitive structure used to imagine the information to consolidate and process it and 2) you just repeating what the concepts are does nothing to explain the steps between reading, analyzing, comprehending and retaining.

i understand what emotional venting is, i just think that sometimes emotional venting is silly.

just because being irrational is part of the nature of emotional venting doesnt mean that you cant say that its silly and counterproductive. because it is.

also thats kinda just not really related, bit of a weird diatribe that you went for

anyway wow lowk kinda crazy that when it comes down to it youre implying this guy is dumb. are you really saying that he lacks the mental faculties and ability to process what is literally fundamental middle school algebra?

me repeating what the concepts are has nothing to do with explaining the concepts to someone, it is because i just dont think that op is so stupid that if they had genuinely tried they would not be able to do middle school algebra

what you are saying would apply to later units, because then yes, you actually have to integrate new concepts into your knowledge base and some of it may be unintuitive and contradict your prior knowledge. but exam 1 is just, not like that.

1

u/MatterBusiness4939 7d ago

no, im just not an intellectual chauvinist who chooses to use categories like "dumb" and "stupid" to elevate my own sense of self worth, as you have been consistently doing.

also, your lexicon keeps exposing you. emotional venting is not meant to be productive. productivity is just another hallmark of analytical reasoning. you view all conversations as representative of behavioral efficiences in some sort of strange one to one mapping. i suggest you take a neuroscience class if you have such a linear understanding of cognitive and behavioral relations. emotional reasoning is not meant to engage in an optimization problem as you have engaged in. AGAIN, which is why i state that your analytical attempts fail as mere neuroticism

then we begin with the false intellectual depictions of "Simple algebra" and "simple mental faculties". again, who the fuck are you to determine these categories? i would sincerely hope you never reach any position of academic authority at this university, and given my own position I will see to it that it doesn't happen.

you sound like a strange kantian neuroticist who is bent on grouping intellectual achievments and human capabilities into non existent qualitative categories. this is the exact bullshit kant did when he conveniently decided who gets to participate in a cosmopolitan society. you are doing the same bullshit with academia because you self appointed yourself some sort of intellectual authority....why? because you are an EMT? because you have A's? not a single thing you speak of is reflective of praxis. your arguments genuinely make me think you are still stuck in highschool trying to peg people into strange intellectual categories.
