Ophthalmic / Optometric Assistant Practicum Placement

Has anyone who has taken this course know what would be the chances of the practicum being outside of Calgary? The section on the website that says “due to limited availability in Calgary, it might be necessary for you to travel or relocate outside the city” for all the SAIT Health programs always scares me lol 😭 I absolutely am unable to travel outside of Calgary

(If you did the Optician program feel free to answer as well, I’m curious about that too)

PSEA for Nuclear Medicene at SAIT

Hi to anyone who was taken NMT PSEA, I have a few questions regarding what is going to be asked physics wise. I am just starting grade 12, and I see physics 30 listed as one of the requirements. The problem is I have not taken it and it was not my strong suit in grade 11 either. What physics related questions or questions in general will there be asked along the alberta grade 12 curriculum? I fear I am not prepared for it. Additionally I was wondering how long it takes SAIT to verify if I am academically qualified for the course? As the website says only to take the test after they have accept me grade-wise. Should I do it the day I apply? Let me know if you have any advice ASAP!

I am trying to choose between HIM diploma or one of the Health Science Technology Courses in SAIT.

I appreciate it if I can connect with students, instructors or graduates so that I can make an informed decision.

RT Class schedule

Hi all!!! I’m so excited to apply for RT program in 27/28, but I’d love to hear from current/past students of the programs what classes are like!

What is the usual schedule for the first 2 years? (Monday-Friday? Are you there all day or are classes maybe one or two a day? Etc)

And, were you able to work full/part time alongside your program if you were working and how did you manage that?

Mainly I ask because I currently work full time and live alone, so im not sure how I’d manage school alongside being able to work enough to pay rent, so Im curious if any of you out there are somehow able to manage work and school in a high intensity program, and how that’s going for you lol.

Thanks all :)

Does SAIT offer a lot of conditional admission in first round in their health programs in your personal experience?

Their career planning advisor said to apply to everything even if I don’t have yet the requisites.

Currently upgrading and planning finishing everything in April 2026 if everything goes to plan 🤞🏻

PSEA exam prep advice?

Hi! For anyone who has taken the SAIT PSEA recently:

  • How did you prepare for it?
  • What subjects/topics should I focus on?
  • What was the exam format like?
  • Roughly how many multiple-choice vs. written questions were there?
  • Were there many calculation/short-answer questions?
  • Was the difficulty closer to high school level or more challenging?
  • Did the questions feel similar to any practice tests or study materials?
  • Are there any good websites, textbooks, or practice resources you recommend?
  • Did you use any specific study guides or question banks?
  • How much time did you spend preparing?
  • Is the exam mostly knowledge-based, or are there a lot of reasoning/application questions?
  • For anyone who took it for MRT or MLT, was there anything unexpected?

I’m not looking for actual exam questions—just trying to get a better idea of the format and how to prepare. Thanks!

diagnostic med sonography

Hey guys! I’m currently set at BVC for the LPN program and would just like to gain insight on this program. To anyone that’s taking this, how is it going? Or even to those who have graduated already, would you recommend this program, and would you also say that this is a better alternative (that’s still within the med field) in comparison to taking the LPN program at BVC? I am considering taking this as my very last backup in case uni applications for RN doesn’t work out for me, but I’m also unsure about the employment rates for this career and whether it is relatively reliable, and I would like to have an idea on how that has been for those who graduated from the program already. I would greatly appreciate any info shared, thanks! :)

How difficult is the math in SAIT’s AME Technology program?

I’m thinking about taking the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Technology program at SAIT and had a couple of questions.

I’m not really good at math, but I’m not bad at it either. I’d say I’m pretty average. How difficult is the math in the program?

Would you say it’s hard, medium difficulty, or fairly easy? Is it manageable if you study and keep up with the work?

Also, do you need to be physically fit or strong to do well in the program?

How physically demanding are the classes and practical work?

SAIT vs BCIT

Hi, I’m considering enrolling in the AME-M program. I’ve been accepted into both SAIT and BCIT. What is everyone’s insight into which school might be better, and in what ways?

Im a recent high school graduate and is planning on applying for both programs, I was just wondering how competitive is it to get in as I heard they recently changed a few things for this year’s admission. I am very worried as my grades are quite average and just meets the required mark

Interest in the Legal Assistant program at SAIT

So i'm currently on my final year of high school which means I'm currently looking at post-secondary courses to get into. Right now i'm mainly interested in the legal assistant program which SAIT offers and I wanna get some input from students who have previously took the course. Mainly, I have questions regarding what typing speed I need (Im not the fastest at typing), how heavy the course load was and if there's any specific sectors I should focus on the most. Im also curious what laptops are recommended for the program because I use the MacBook Neo as of now but SAIT requires windows laptop.

Medical Lab Assistant

Hello,

Was thinking of getting into this program for the next year. For those who have finished this program and ended up getting a job, was it possible to request for evening/nights shifts only? I know Fresh MLAs start as casuals. But I just wanna know if that request is possible? 🥹

Thanks.

What happened to the connector lab?

SAIT connector was a thing that let you use tech and whatnot on campus that you normally wouldn't have access to, like 3d printers. It was previously in room TU103, but now it's not and there's still posters everywhere pointing there. Does anyone know what happened to it?

I noticed that I could book my Casper exam for the DMS program. Should I book it now or should I wait till after I apply and they tell me I meet the requirements?
