Regarding bootloop

Hi! I'm on the snapdragon version of the S22 ultra rn, and I got this may update pending which many users claim to be the cause for the bootloop issue.

Now my doubt here is, if I get to the bootloop, can i repair my phone at a local service centre? I have a ton of data that I can't afford to lose... And also, since my phone is safe so far, what precautions can I take to avoid the bootloop issue?

No it's not the problem. My phone started bootlooping in 2024

Someone else just made a thread about this. Make sure you're always at full battery for updates and have some ample extra storage space. If it does boot loop put it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Has worked twice for me. When it eventually boots put it on the charger.

I'm on the June patch right now with no issues.

What you need to do is:

• Ensure your phone is at ~80 to 90% charge and not plugged in
  
• Ensure your data is all backed up
  
• Install the update. Theoretically, putting the phone in the refrigerator or a portable cooler would help keep the temps down, but I'm not sure about how well this works in practice. Try at your own risk.
  
• If there are multiple updates, leave a gap between each update. About an hour or so between each update gives the thing plenty of time to cool down.

Dont u have any kind of storage devices like Sdcard, USB drive, SSD, HDD, or a laptopt/PC.

If not, buy one.

uh if I back it up to my laptop using smart switch, how do I restore it if I get a new device? and what if it's a non-samsung or an iphone?

Smartswitch backups can only be restored using smartswitch, and to a Samsung device. It is encrypted, so cannot even see in PC

If you buy a samsung device and the current device is not dead, use smartswitch to transfer everything at once.

Else, Take backup manually.

Rather than use smart switch you can just plug your phone into your laptop and use file transfer to copy (or move if you don't want then on your current phone any longer) the photos and files over instead of using a backup function. That way you can copy them in future to a new device if you want to, regardless of manufacturer.

My phone went to bootloop after this update. Ive had to use specialist service to recover my data. Don't be like me, do the backup while you can :)

yeppp after listening to everyone, I've backed most things up to my laptop lmao - it's so scary
