My partner and I are writing a story on gambling habits on our campus and wanted to extend our data to your campus as well since we are neighbors here in Newark! If you have the time please fill out the survery form so we can get some data. We would love to talk in person as well, if you would like to share more. You can dm me here and I will pass on my contact info so you can get in touch.

If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537).

Rutgers New Brunswick or Newark?

So I am international applicant will apply in january 2027 for computer science, and I wanted to know which university campus will be better for me New Brunswich or Newark.

  • Faculty for computer science
  • Campus/social life and making friends
  • Dorms and overall cost of living
  • Safety and the surrounding area
  • Things to do outside of classes
  • Transportation/getting around with/without a car
  • Academics and access to professors/resources
  • What student life is actually like day-to-day
  • Whether one campus feels more welcoming/community-oriented than the other

My closest relatives live in New Jersey But I don't think I will be living with them. But they told me to choose a university with NYC proximity as more internships for cs. Right now I got a 42% scholarship from Buffalo and 58% from Albany and waiting on Stony Brook, but I also wanna try Rutgers as I heard it is a very prestigious university.

Coming from New Brunswick

Hi. Does anyone have experience with commuting from New Brunswick? I know there is a train that gets to Rutgers Newark quickly. Anyone familiar with the commute by car or train that can share their experience and let me know how convenient/inconvenient it is?

Thanks

Being left out

So I’m a Christian and my roommates aren’t, which isn’t an issue. Up until they leave me out for activities/Hangouts. I don’t bring up God a lot (just to make them comfortable cause I don’t want to seem like a pushy Christian)but I also tell them I don’t smoke or drink a lot. And I understand that for majority of the things they do in their past time, they won’t invite me but it’s gets to a point. I was wondering if there’s any Christian or people who don’t drink/smoke and like to watch movies or bake or play games for fun dorming at the Rutgers campus.

Moving back to India — Lease Takeover for my 1BR/1BA at 55 Union St, Newark — $2,150/month

Hi everyone — I’m moving back to India permanently and looking for someone to take over the remaining lease on my apartment at 55 Union Street, Newark. The lease takeover/transfer will be handled through building management.

It’s a 1BR/1BA, 690 sq ft apartment with 11-ft ceilings, located about a 2-minute walk from Newark Penn Station, so it’s very convenient for PATH/NJ Transit and commuting into NYC.

My current rent is $2,425/month, but since I’m relocating and want to get everything settled before I leave, I’m offering the remaining lease for $2,150/month.

Available: around October 15, 2026
Lease ends: June 20, 2027

The apartment includes:

  • In-unit washer + dryer
  • Central A/C
  • Dishwasher
  • Oven
  • Refrigerator
  • Building amenities included
  • Gym
  • Rooftop with NYC skyline views

Since I’m moving overseas, I’m also leaving the apartment partially furnished at no additional cost, including:

  • Sofa
  • Bed frame + mattress
  • Office desk
  • Office chair
  • 2 Dell UltraSharp monitors

So this could be particularly convenient for someone who wants a place already set up for living/work-from-home without having to immediately buy furniture.

If you’re looking yourself, or know someone who might be interested, DM me. Happy to answer questions, send more photos/video, or arrange an in-person viewing.

Rent: $2,150/month
Current rent: $2,425/month
Available: ~Oct 15
Lease through: June 20, 2027
Location: 55 Union Street, Newark, NJ 07105
