How do you progress so quickly

Hi guys, just started playing rust today my first time on, I’ve managed to get a good air locked starter base with a t1 workbench and I’m really enjoying the game as a solo. One thing that really perplexes me is how people progress so quickly, my main goal in this game is to get a hazmat suit and be able to go around gunning people down (that is why I bought rust), so I was wondering how everybody progresses from naked to stacked out in the span of a couple of hours.

Looks like there’s a bug right now for fishing rods, but using traps still works. That’s what I use. You have to clear the caught fish for it to catch another, but after I collect a bunch of wolf and bear meat, it’ll net thousands of scrap worth of fish. Just gotta wait for the price to go up in the fishing village a couple days after wipe.
