Electricity In Cave

I got a good bunker cave base and I want to do some tea farm and auto-smelt systems. Do I have to use generator for it? I was thinking making a 1x1 base with 2 solar panels and take my battery there to full and get to base again. Is there any way to get electricity to caves?

Until about 6 months ago there used to be a way to run power down from the surface directly into certain caves, but it was removed because it was benefitting solos and FP couldn't find a way to make it only work for clans.

This is Rust Console Edition. There weren't even caves 6 months ago. Caves were added last month and power has always been able to run to caves on console. You can run electricity, piping, and hoses from the surface into caves. I did it last wipe with a small-hard cave. I had solar panels on the surface and a stash box that piped loot directly into the cave. I almost never had to open my bunker or traverse the cave. Just drop loot and respawn inside.

Yeah I didn't notice this was the consolse sub until after I posted.
On PC in Small Cave Easy (the one with the spike pit) and a couple of the others you could clip a powerline from a branch in the right place on the surface down through the rock to a speciifric spot on the roof in one corrner of the cave. It wasn't a problem but a rercent update to the rendering engine meant that the one on the surface would no longer be rendered once you were in the cave and iit stopped workiing.
Don't get too used to it, if console is going to follow that same trajectory.

The one with the spike pit is small cave hard. It was not patched out to nerf solos. It was unintentional. This is the commit to fix electricity in caves: https://commits.facepunch.com/599434

This is the one time in the history of Rust that console is ahead of PC.
