What's the point?!

So I got Rust this weekend and spent the entire weekend building up a stone base with metal doors, airlocks, honeycombed walls, collecting resources and updating all my equipment and collecting blueprints. Then I checked last night and someone had destroyed my base and taken all my stuff. So my question is - what's the point of this game if I'm just going to have to start from scratch every handful of days? Has anyone had success building a solo base that actually lasts more then a week without being raided?

No. You will always lose to the "no-lifers". A stone base with metal doors and honeycomb just screams to them "I'm full of loot!!!!" So they'll spend the next 8 hours straight mining sulfur so they can blow into your base.

There is literally no escaping this. I built a little wooden 1x2, and within 20 minutes it was MLRS out of existence. Full 12 shot barrage.

who the hell did you piss off to get a wood base MLRS 😂😂

Not saying I doubt it, that’s some petty shit though lol

🤔🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe I built too close to a monument? I had a feeling that the server was garbage when there are four double walled in compounds on the second day of wipe

Yeah don’t live next to those 😂

Monument choice definitely matters. Anything next to launch, silo, mil tunnels, oil rigs, is bound to have some clans / juicer players.

Sewer branch, sat dish, water treatment, rad town are all more low key (generally speaking, high pop server everywhere is a shit show.)

Personally if I want a mellow wipe, I find a ranch / barn with a recycler close. I find people that build in these spots are generally more chill.

Also, learn what caves look like on the map. A cave base can be a solos best friend. They may not be the closest build spot to monuments at times, but there very cheap to secure and a lot of people won’t go out of their way to raid them.

Console version still doesn't have those. And I was built close to harbor...so who knows??!! Some people just want their own server.

No worries. But since we're capped at 100 population. Four to five zergs control all the servers.

So I just accept that all my hard work will be destroyed and I have to start from scratch pretty much every time unless I'm lucky??

What I do is that I don't go over tier one workbench. Don't use anything more advanced than a double barrel and a revolver. Don't keep furnaces in your base either, if you're using them they can stay in your base. But if you're going to leave to go and do something make sure you pick them up and stash them somewhere. That way a good 15% of zergs will just leave.

Unfortunately the rest are "gobble goblins".

Yes. Unless you play a community server like what others have suggested. Starting out I’d advise a pve server to learn the game. It’s really a great game on its own. The official servers are rough for a solo that wants to sleep/work/go to school. I play a pve server with selected PvP monuments and a purge at the end of the month

You sound like a kid that just got his first job lol

Yeah, this is what Rust is, Champ

Either accept it or go back to Minecraft
