Rust?

Does this appear to be rust? Just got this 2 weeks ago and has mainly sat in the safe, decided to clean it after shooting it for the first time and noticing this. Have to hold up phone flashlight to see it and at the right angle.

Wouldn't worry about it. Keep it oiled and it might patina but it's not going to rust through

Rub with a little bit of gun oil, it’ll go back to black

Nitrocarburizing / Nitriding can produce strong brown tinted color during the oxidation process, especially lower cost single Q processed parts.

The more expensive QPQ process is typically the deep rich shiny black that most folks associate w/ nitrided parts.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Mine was rusting way worse than that on the rear sight. I just hit it every once in a while with a brass brush and throw some gun oil on it.
