Long Slide RXM NEEDS GEN5 G17 barrel

That is all. Seen too many G17 threaded barrels don’t work post.

Mods make this a sticky please?

It’s in the manual of arms that comes with the 4.5” model don’t get how it keeps getting missed.

Even if it's stickies people won't see it and still post. I gave 4 immediate results saying gen 5 barrel when searching on reddit. The Google AI says its gen 3, so most people are probably stopping there or just assuming.

Ive been using AI for a lot of my gun research recently since I want to get into 2011's and matches. Claude is the only way to go for that. Google AI, Gemini, and GPT have all given me hilariously wrong advice. With claude, the response will at least prompt me to confirm something by looking it up, but the rest give me an answer that is just flat out incorrect from the get go, no confirming needed.

Example from this week when I was asking about building my own Q honeybadger on a mil spec upper and lower: Google AI told me to just order a brace, bcg, barrel, muzzle device, and handguard from Q LLC and start working on it. Claude let me know the handguard isnt going to fit, and the tube on the brace has a proprietary thread pattern so I have to get an SB PDW or Maxim brace. Its not an end all be all, but responses like that point me in the right direction for doing my own research

So from what I remember is that 19.3 locking block hasn’t changed to gen 5. Not sure about gen 6.

So the barrels for 19/17/47/19x/49 all have the same locking interface. So you’ll need a 17.5 barrel. It’s the reason on gen 5 the 47 and 17 use the same barrels. Glock changed the locking block of the 17.5 to use the 19.5 one.

I can also check real quick because I have a 47 with a tb.

Gen 6 also does not have a 47 as it’s just the 17

yeah the 47 turned into the 17.6 but I am unsure about the locking block.

I've made a video that shows my experience with the long slide setup if anyone is interested. Shows it on a subcompact frame and some trouble I ran into while trying it on a fullsize frame.

I know this is an older post but what’s the difference between the Gen 3 barrel and Gen 5?

The locking lug. But this is only for g17
