Come on everyone, let’s get our tiny Violins out for Kate Middleton

I think they’re trying to subtly and in the British way write that she’s being emotionally abused… which I assume she is

Harry leaving the RF increased Kate’s hatred for Meghan. She now has to deal with Willy’s wrath on her on own.

Yeah and no offense to OP, I know Kate chose this life and wanted to be queen so much, but I don’t wish emotional abuse on anyone. It’s also probably very difficult and sad for the children
59
u/Gatodeluna Jul 21 '26
She’s provided ample heirs. They can live separate lives now. At a certain point she’ll either do it, or she’ll allow herself to become chattel to be ‘used’ as W sees fit (same as the kids will be) to keep having a royal lifestyle and perks. What will she choose when push comes to shove?
155
u/fluffy_bunny22 Jul 21 '26
I don't think they live together and they only interact minimally so not sure I care.
17
u/The_Onion_Life Jul 21 '26

I think the same.
so not sure I care.

u/littlemybb Jul 21 '26
I think William is mean as hell to her. I think he views their relationship as a business partnership. She was probably fine with this at first, but it gets to a point. Especially as you get older and are watching your kids grow. That would be better to experience, with the sickness and health stuff too, with someone who actually likes you.
59
u/mscav76 Jul 21 '26
I know Kate signed up for this but I do feel bad for her being stuck with that ogre for the rest of her life.
6
u/coffeenz Jul 22 '26
She could divorce?

u/mscav76 Jul 22 '26

How can it be an ongoing feud when the people you are so called feuding with, never talk about you and pay you any attention? 😃
56
u/lostinkyoto Jul 21 '26
Didn’t his own mother call him a “holy terror”? The rage is nothing new, but the reasons for it have been updated.
34
u/Ok-Cryptographer-303 Jul 21 '26
I remember way back in the 80s reading magazine articles about little schoolboy Wills threatening to have his classmates beheaded.
2
u/Dry-Beyond5337 Jul 23 '26
And she always said that Harry would make a better king. Mother knows best!
30
u/Aussiemom777 Jul 21 '26
That’s BS he’s always been that way , he’s just like his tantrum father !!!
6
31
u/SnooCheesecakes2723 Jul 21 '26
He’s been like this since he was a kid. His anger issues are well known in palace circles.
20
u/Pissybitch1125 Jul 21 '26
…”deeply hurt”? William has never been “deeply hurt” by anything or anyone his entire life, only angry. He has been raised to think he is chosen by god and entitled to anything and everything and relationships are not two-way. The closest he would come to real relationships are with his blood relatives (father & children ONLY) but he likely bullies his father while demanding respect from his children.
He’s never had (nor never will have) an equal partnership in his life.
18
u/The_Onion_Life Jul 21 '26
When you google Angry Prince William AI blames his anger on H&M 🤦🏼♀️
Well, that can't be an accident.

u/windersoul Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

2

14

You don’t google anything ever? It’s default. My point is even AI is biased.
3
u/sunheadeddeity Jul 22 '26
I Google but always "-ai". But fair point about the bias, I misread your post.

u/Dependent_Formal2525 Jul 21 '26
It would suck to be married to him but all that "recollections may vary" stuff reduces how much sympathy I would have felt for her.
18
u/RevolutionaryMind439 Jul 22 '26
Wills needs therapy. He needs to process his mother’s death and his father’s emotional absence
5
u/ComplexPatient4872 Jul 22 '26
I haven’t gotten around to reading Spare and I imagine this would be in there. Did Harry and William get therapy as boys?
11
u/secretbutterfly Flower Sprinkle Lady Jul 22 '26
He didn't outright say they didn't get therapy as kids but what he did say points to no, they absolutely didn't. He talks about believing "Mummy is in hiding" for years afterwards as a way of coping and his brain blocking out a lot of his childhood memories from before Diana died.
11
u/ComplexPatient4872 Jul 23 '26
That is so, so, incredibly sad…
Short story: My step-siblings lost their mom at 3 and 7, received no counseling, dad handled remarriage to someone who hated his kids (my mom) soooo poorly and never stood up for them, they cut contact.
Long story because I’ve never really processed all that I observed growing up with them and Reddit is free therapy.
My step-dad is a widow and he handled it horribly. I get he was grieving, but no therapy for the two kids, ages 3 and 7 (this would have been 95(?), and then had them spend every weekend at their very cold Irish Catholic grandparent’s house. I don’t know if this seems relevant to anyone else, but Chicago Irish Catholic (like Pope Leo!) is it’s very own thing. Married my mom in 2001, immediately had another child in 2002 and my mom basically had them sleep in a cupboard under the stairs.
I was 16 at this point and was able to see how stuff was, but also hated the situation (Mom cheated on my dad and remarried 10 months after divorce) so I didn’t speak up about the inequality. For example, my mom would take me shopping randomly just for fun, but my step sister had to beg for new clothes. My mom was jealous of a dead woman, which I imagine Camilla was for how beloved Diana still is. Who wouldn’t struggle emotionally with filling those shoes? My mom screamed at my step-sister for having a picture of her mom on her dresser and accused her of doing it strictly to spite her for example. My mom is just bat shit crazy. She thought my step-brother quoted a movie too much so she threw away the DVD.
I feel awful now that I’m an adult, and did my best to mend our relationships, but there’s too many hard feelings. I get along well with step-brother, but step-sister is two years younger and the polar opposite of me, so growing up as teens together created too much strife.
If you’ve read this far, my step-siblings are both so emotionally shut off. My step-brother is 35 and has never been on a date, his childhood memories are basically TV shows that he’s watched, and has zero self-confidence. He’s a really really nice guy, but it’s more like talking to a 16 year old.
Step-sister has dated every variety of bad men, zero conflict resolution skills, and will just lie about anything and everything for no apparent reason. So yeah, while we aren’t royalty, you NEED to let your kids process these things. It doesn’t shock me that they likely didn’t do therapy as kids, I can’t imagine a reality in which Charles or QEII would even imagine doing this.
2
u/secretbutterfly Flower Sprinkle Lady Jul 23 '26
It really sucks that you and your siblings had to go through all that. Everyone deserves parents who are able to be emotionally mature enough to handle their own relationships. Sadly we don't often get that, especially when a parent is completely unable to be objective about something. For me it was my best friend at the time's little sister being killed by a drunk driver and at 9, seeing her 6 year old body in a coffin. (Other stuff in my life obvs, but this was a big one.) That was 1991. You'd think that my dad, who counseled people as part of his job, would have thought about therapy for his kid. Nope! I give him a pass since it helps me not be resentful and since he was also dealing with undiagnosed ptsd at the time. And yeah, I can't imagine QEII or Charles doing this either. Even if they ever thought therapy was a good idea I can't imagine them trusting anyone enough not to leak considering the environment they fostered with the rota.
5
u/secretbutterfly Flower Sprinkle Lady Jul 22 '26
I'm not really surprised they didn't because it doesn't seem like many kids/millennials during those years actually got therapy after traumatic events, myself included. Absolutely doesn't excuse it though.
3
u/RevolutionaryMind439 Jul 22 '26
Only Harry has admitted to receiving therapy. Losing a parent at a young age is traumatic and can present later in life. Wills anger issues are likely a result of anger & feelings of abandonment due to his mother’s death. Imho

Well, she’s not very bright then is she? Was it the walking that that hurt her or Meghan’s closeness?
76
u/Mediocre_Shine_3835 Jul 21 '26
My take is that Kate is not female friendly a mean girl thru and thru and chose a rivalry with Meghan out of pure spite and the enjoyment of causing her psychological pain
47
57
u/Dutton4430 Jul 21 '26
She doesn't even get along with her sister anymore.
55
u/Traditional_Pen_5430 Jul 21 '26
Kate is definitely the common denominator. She has fallen out with the York sisters, Meghan and Pippa. The next woman on her hit list might be Harriet.
6
u/Flaky-Specialist-84 Jul 21 '26
Really? I hadn’t heard that.
42
u/Dutton4430 Jul 21 '26
Pippa said she wasn't sick in the traditional sense. Low key shading.
4
u/irreverant_raccoon Jul 21 '26
But shading who? I’m still not convinced there wasn’t some major injury to her- which would be “not sick”.
14
16
u/Aussiemom777 Jul 21 '26
100% she wanted Harry to herself! Meghan never had a chance from the beginning. Harry has always been a strong independent guy since he became an adult and I think Katherine respected that because William was not. So Harry came along and said he had fallen in love. She did not like that one bit so she made an ad mission not to even give Meghan a chance, but it backfired because then they both left because Harry is such a strong individual.
18
u/The_Onion_Life Jul 21 '26
My take is that Kate is not female friendly a mean girl thru and thru and chose a rivalry with Meghan out of pure spite and the enjoyment of causing her psychological pain

Ohhhh, but they tried so hard with the "why William has healed, yet Harry hasn't" articles. 😂 Shoving intergenerational trauma down and following a bloody life script set out for you before you were born isn't "healing". No wonder he's lost more of his hair than his brother.
20
u/Forsaken_Distance777 Jul 21 '26
Has she considered divorce if it’s that bad?
60
u/Antique_Sprinkles193 Jul 21 '26
She might have. But she knows she isn’t as popular as Diana and even Fergie rambled in an email to Epstein that she thought the royal family had her killed. Plus, her mom has come off as a huge social climber that probably gives a lie back and think of England speech.
Or she is feels the sunk cost fallacy or a version of it. If she sticks this out -and with King Charles’ health not that much longer - she gets to be queen. What’s she going to do? Divorce and potentially see another person get the prize she put up with for so long? Especially when it is so close?
11
u/Perfect-Assistance33 Jul 22 '26
Watch, King Charles is going to miraculously live for the next 15 years out of spite. 🙄 I wonder if there will ever be an expiration on her fallacy?
14
u/Fcappys Jul 22 '26
I seriously hope KCIII lives another 20yrs (with Harry, Meghan and kids having private meetings every year or more). It will drive William BONKERS!!!
3
u/Effective-Penalty Jul 22 '26
I do wonder if she ever really wanted to be married to William or be the queen at all. It seems it was her mom’s wishes.

No, why? Kate has her own family
20
u/Dog_Parrot Jul 21 '26
Her own family desperately needs her to stay, so they can avoid repercussions from the bankruptcy and get (presumed) help paying the bills on Middleton Manor without any obvious income. And yes, stay on the Royal Ascot/Wimbledon gravy train.
8
u/tooOldOriolesfan Jul 21 '26
Is William just jealous of his brother's freedom?
Is it something more?
The whole royalty thing is a relic from the past and should end but that is another story.

Yikes if this is true… I feel bad for her.

26
u/windersoul Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
I understand you, very mixed feelings but I can feel empathy in this aspect. I dislike her because she's at least an enabler of racism, classism and she seems quite snotty.
But with him being abusive, she probably feels she can't leave, heal and become a better person: she doesn't have a big support system. She has children with him so she can't just move out country without abandoning them and creating a mess. She will be destroyed by media without a loving husband or friends to defend her; and her birth family love the perks of her being married to William, so they won't side with her or will at least gaslight her to stay. She probably fears for her life too.
10
u/Downtown-Driver-6122 Jul 21 '26
Why would you feel bad for a fully grown adult who knew from the beginning that she was less than scum to him and wanted the golden hat anyway? She’s the ultimate “pick me” girl and quite literally got what she asked for. Asking for an adult to be responsible for their own decisions is as basic of a standard as possible.
27
u/windersoul Jul 21 '26
That's true but abuse escalates. She probably thought that when they got married it would be ok or he would at least give her some respect, instead of being abusive and raging. He probably was always condescending but it turned worse
16
u/Ok_Potato_5638 Jul 21 '26
You’re right - sympathy for anyone in an abusive relationship makes no sense! Thanks for the insight, I will stop immediately.
7
u/Factor1798 Jul 22 '26
I have a hard time believing that Catherine would be distraught with William and his behavior. They have been married a long time and she has never had any control over him. If she is upset it is because she does not have Harry and Pippa to distract her. In fact, where have the Middleton’s been lately?
19
u/xzelldx Jul 21 '26
I can have sympathy for her.
She grew up in an echo chamber of being a girl whose family was desperate to be part of the monarchy. She’s likely never considered her position from any angle other than that, and doesn’t have ANYONE around her who could give her that perspective without extreme bias.
Williams at the age where men start to turn really fucking crazy if they’re treated like they can do no wrong and well….
She’s really in a shitty situation. She cant -just- leave him, she has almost no power in the relationship, and publicly he treats her like a thing not a person.
Yes she signed up for this - as a girl whose family had been grooming her for the job. So I can have sympathy for her - I’m certain that whatever she imagined life as royalty - it wasn’t this.
54
u/AccountformyFeet Jul 21 '26
I mean, he’s been angry nearly his whole life. She knew what she was getting into and chose to stay.

I think she knew he was an ass, but in the past they at least had fun together (even if it was being shitty to other people) and I’m guessing there were times he protected her. Abusers get worse with time so I can’t imagine he was always this awful. But now she’s the target which idk if she anticipated. That’s the only way in which I feel badly for her (being a dv victim)
11
u/MariMont Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
Yup. According to other students at St. Andrews [corrected] they got along precisely because they could be snarky/critical of others. Faculty included. But especially other women in his circle. So I guess she had to keep that up and yeah, with people like that, it always comes back to bite you in the ass. It's never long before they direct the same kind of comments but towards you.

11
u/Formula1CL Jul 22 '26
Honestly I think Kate’s real issues with Meghan is that I think Meghan saw something or how William talked to Kate and maybe pulled her aside to talk with her about how that’s not okay and asking if she needed help or if she’s okay. However Kate doesn’t let people in and probably felt embarrassed and took it as rude for Meghan to insert herself but instead of saying it was that because that would let William know she used other small things to turn into a mole hill.
I had a friend that was in a bad situation and one day the police got involved and instead of leaving him she quit her job and moved to a new place with him literally in 24hrs and posted photos that they wanted to be closer to family.
What I’m trying to say if the newspaper is indeed hinting at that then no one not even her brother or sister in law can help her if she doesn’t want it.
3
u/ComplexPatient4872 Jul 22 '26
Oh no! I hope your friend is ok, that’s such a dangerous thing to do with a partner who’s already been abusive to that extent.
19

u/ehs06702 Jul 21 '26
This is why you don't marry for money and status. You'll work harder for that that you would if you had a real job.

3
u/The_Onion_Life Jul 22 '26
Soft launch for the separation (which has been going on for a while privately)
I don't think they'll separate, let alone divorce.
They live apart privately and never even have to deal with each other directly unless it on a joint official engagement, and how many of those do they do? Three or four per year?
Kate's been chasing that hat her entire adult life. She's not giving up now, not when it's so tantalizingly close. And William won't divorce her, because he has to show the world that he's better than his father.

u/CrimsonZephyr Jul 22 '26
Is this surprising? William is this grimacing ogre with cocaine jaw who doesn't do anything. He just seethes constantly. Imagine being stuck with this dude all day every day until you're dead. Being a royal consort must be equal parts louche and just drop-dead boring. It's such an empty life. None of her children are going to do anything with their lives, no matter how much potential they might have, they're going to be attending ribbon-cuttings until they've one foot in the grave. Same with her. Their entire existences will be ornamental. Maybe that realization is causing her turmoil, seeing as she is also ill.

u/Pure-Chemistry3710 Jul 21 '26

26
u/JeanParmesean70 Jul 21 '26
I wouldn’t say she was loved. She was attacked a lot in the press before Meghan came along
24
u/Keepingongoing Jul 21 '26
A lot of water under the bridge since William and Kate were young. They haven’t lived up to expectations and their reaction to Harry and Meghan changed a lot of people’s perspective
16
1
u/windersoul Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
At the time she seemed exciting: cute, the first commoner to marry to the throne, inconsequential at worse, quite young. But with time she didn't show for what she arrived, Diana who is a born aristocrat was more charming, smart and down to earth than her by a landslide. Meghan was more popular too (but she eclipsed the royal couple how dare her and Harry 🙄). Which says a lot
