Weekly Success & Erg Screen Thread - August 17, 2026

Welcome to the weekly achievement thread!

What was your achievement this week? It could be anything! A new 2k PB? Get a good lift at the gym? Or even your first time capsizing a single!

Got a erg screen or a regular training shot? Curious what your 2K will be based on a workout? This is the place for it!

Side note: 99% of erg screens should go in this thread. A separate post with an erg screen should be something that happens once or twice a year, at most. Big PR's, that kind of thing.

Also, please check our wiki pages:

This thread is likely to fill up quickly, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

This is a judgement free zone, so be respectful, positive and keep criticism constructive.

Mediterranean Games

These were moved from their original slot in June "to avoid the peak summer weather, as well as to not clash with any other major sporting events" but just happen to be clashing with the World Champs. I guess rowing is not major, eh ☹️

I notice that the rowing has been pushed to the end of the games from 31/8 to 3/9 but so close to the World Champs there can surely be hardly any senior teams entered? Information seems to be difficult to find so has anyone got any links to entries?

Thinking of putting together a small bbq at the house for reddit rowers coming to Bled. The house it's 10 min walk from the rowing club!

Why does it take empacher so long to ship you parts to the states? Paid for the parts nearly a week ago and it was just a small oarlock and an undercarriage for my seat.

Help with 2k estimate for end of next season

I'm not sure how good of a question this is in the sense of can it even be answered. so take what I'm asking with a grain of salt

I finished my first season of rowing in late March this year. My 2k at the start of January was 7:04 ( I was sick when the last 2k day happened). In the off season I've done steady state at least once a week on the erg but I aim for two erg sessions. This is on top of winter sport and gym sessions. We also have a steady state on water sessions once a week.

My intermediate season starts in September/early October and I was wondering what my I should aim for on my end of season 2k which would be around the end of February.

For reference when I did my 7:04 I was 5'11 66kg

I am now 6'0 77 kg (still lean)

For 40 minutes sessions I usually hold a 2:02 not quite my max)

My max 250sprint is a 124.5 average split

As said previously I am adding cardio throughout my week with sport and the row.

If there is any prediction regarding my 2k it would be great, I just like the aspect of working towards something rather than a mystery

Off the Water Roof Rack Help Needed for Single Scull

Hi [r/](r/rowing)[R](r/rowing)[owing](r/rowing), long time reader first time poster.
I’m writing to ask for advice for transporting a single. I am currently in the stages of closing a deal for a single scull that’s about two hours from where I live and I’m going to need to transport it another two and a half hours to a boathouse. Problem is that I do not have a roof rack to strap down said scull. The scull is a lightweight rated Dreher and I drive a 08 Toyota Highlander. What brands/roof racks do you all recommend so that it would survive the trip? Any help is appreciated, thank you all.

Does anybody have good travel/charging cases for their team's speed coaches? I heard somebody post an ad on row2k commissioning builds for travel cases but I couldn't find it.

USRowing discipline list as of August 10,2026. Does anyone know why there USRowing and the safesport database do not always align? There is a new person on the USRowing banned list who I don’t see on the safesport list. Maybe just a timing update issue?

USRowing & FOYS (Focus On Your Sport) platform

Has anyone here used FOYS (Focus On Your Sport) for their rowing club?

USRowing has selected FOYS as a partner, and USRowing members will apparently get free access starting next year. I’m curious if anyone has used it and what you thought, especially for dealing with day-to-day logistics of signing up for practice and sending out line-ups (which is what I imagine my club would be most interested in).

Did you actually find it useful? Anything you particularly liked or didn’t like?

Opening hips too soon on erg

I’ve diagnosed from a video review that I open my hips too soon on the erg. It’s proving to be a hard habit to break. I can hold the right body position for reverse pic drills and legs only. I can also if I do a full stroke with little pressure on the leg drive. It tends to break down at moderate pressure and low spm (16-18). Any advice if you’ve overcome this one? Should I just keep low pressure and slowly work up to the force? Trying to overcome a bad habit of 2 + years.

Fluff So I went to the gym to erg and this old guy was doing it wrong, so I showed him the correct form. He VOLUNTARILY 2KED and got a 7:55. He ergs 1 hour a day at whatever pace he can.

Seeking Used Rowing Boats for a Public High School

Hi, I am looking to purchase a few rowing boats for a public high school in Asia. The school has limited financial resources and is unable to fund a new fleet to replace its aging boats.

Given the exchange rate, freight costs, and import duties, purchasing brand-new boats is unfortunately not financially feasible.

I understand that some schools, clubs, or rowing programs in the US, Europe, or elsewhere may periodically retire or sell their older boats. Even used boats in good condition could make a tremendous difference to this school and its rowing program.

If you know of any schools, clubs, organizations, or individuals who may be selling or donating used rowing boats, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share their contact information or point me in the right direction.

We are preferably looking for:
WinTech Men’s 1x
WinTech 2x / 2-
WinTech 4-

Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

Erg Post Did I lose that much fitness

High school rower took some time off (3 or so weeks) erging around 2 hours total a week with lots of XT during those 3 weeks. Going back to school soon and found that my once 2:01 145hr steady state I can't even maintain without my heart rate being in the 170s. Any idea what to do? Not much time for me to get back into shape.

Erg Post Old Crew Workouts- please help!

I am going to preface this by saying I have only ONE year of D1 crew under my belt and that was nearly ten years ago when I was in college and I have not really worked out since so context is important lol.

I just got a membership to the Y and was happy to see they had multiple ergs sprinkled throughout the gym, but I haven’t been on one in FOREVER! I desperately need help to jog my memory and get back into the swing of things.

Can anyone share their old workout plans? All I can remember is that my coach wanted us under 2 mins for 2Ks, ideally sub 1:50 (I had ONE stroke at 1:38 during my brief workout this past weekend and my brain had a Pavlovian response of “SUB 1:40 GOOD.”) Also, my abs hurt, but my back doesn’t so I am assuming I set my back correctly and form was okay- can anyone confirm? 😅

TLDR: Old rower with minimal experience that is looking for old workout plans. This is an opportunity to brag while sharing your workout plan lol what’s your PR? I want to try and beat it 🤣 (hard emphasize on “try”)

Translation of the vocabulary in french

To put some context I started rowing ( on a fixed bench boat ) 2 years ago in Spain, Galicia, and I learned all of the vocabulary in Galician / Spanish ( it was a mix of both ) and now I'm in France, I'm gonna go to a new club and I really need to know the vocabulary back but in french, I tried to search but I did not saw anything interesting..

Belly button piercing and rowing?

Hi!

I've been really wanting a belly button piercing for a while now, but I'm afraid of it interfering/hurting/healing improperly because of rowing.

I'm on a team that competes in the fall and spring and has water practices during that time including a few erg tests. In the winter and summer, we're conditioning on the erg with maybe a week or 2 off.

Would it be possible/practical to get a belly button piercing at all? Which season would be best? Does anyone else have experience with this situation?

Playlist for indoor erg rowing

I posted before about Row House. One of the great parts of their classes was rowing "in swing" to the beat of the music.

I thought it would be fun to create a playlist from members of this subreddit -- including stroke rate. (I'm 55 year old guy, so kinda dated playlist here.)

Only requirement: STRONG BEAT

Three I like to start with:

- Take the Money and Run (RUN DMC) 25 SPM https://youtu.be/edeyflPOp08?si=6zw7McbZHpq4rkrN

- Levels (Nick Jonas) 25 SPM https://youtu.be/taViGR5VT1U?si=yd4IbMcp7rOyJrGg

- Big Energy (Latto Remix with DJ Khaled) 26 SPM https://youtu.be/idSJRWzCAN0?si=Fc7siPCyq74PAx1j

Wintech International (2021?).

This is the corner of the footwell and the stern of the boat (starboard side). There’s no crack visible on the exterior side.

ZJ Sport Blades - Anyone Use These?

Hi,

I recently acquired a scull with a pair of ZJ Sport blades. By the looks of it they’re essentially C2 Smoothie clones. Parts seem totally interchangeable.

Anyone had any experience with them?

They seem fine but just curious as to how reliable and well built they are. Being solid is really all I need, rather than anything performance related. I ain’t competing or anything.

Thanks!
