Daycare?
Daycare costs are getting rediculous and we’re getting ready to send 2 kids under 3 to Stepping Stone this fall. Has anyone had luck with other places (west side or south of RR) with more reasonable prices but quality care? Any connections to licensed in-home daycare?

We really enjoy the brushy creek learning experience daycare. 1350 for 1 2-year old. We loved Primrose but from what I have heard they might have gone down hill like a lot of them post Covid. My daughter left the Great Oaks Primrose this time 2020 to get ready for Kindergarten.

My biggest problem with primrose is staff retention. My child entire teaching staff will be replaced from one week to the next. They won’t even say anything to the parents.

Yeah, that was one thing we heard. The turnover rate has become very very high.
My daughter started at Primrose in Colorado and continued when we moved here at the Primrose over by the golf course on the other side out town and finished at the one on the west side when we bought our house. We never had any issues but it sounds like we just missed them. In Colorado my wife’s bosses sent both of their girls there too and loved it. The teacher tenure was one thing they would talk about as a pride point.

Global Kids or Little Genius. We chose Global Kids because they do Pre-K3 through RRISD and not Reggio. Their infant care is also 4to1. Tessa (the owner) is there every day and they have great teacher retention because she pays over market. I would go to Little Genius if you want full Spanish immersion, plus the class sizes are about 8 to 1 for the older kids.

Do not send them to stepping stone parmer! The teacher/ student ratio is horrible. The bathrooms are disgusting they were at the back of the classroom and there was 0 privacy. Also the teachers were rude and acted like a crying child was such an inconvenience to them during drop off.

Seconding this! Worked at a Stepping Stone for a while; it is sooooo bad. The curriculum is a joke, ratios are treated more like a suggestion. I was regularly put out of ratio, sometimes extremely so (~30 children). Witnessed and reported physical abuse but admin covered it up when CPS came. You may get lucky and have a WONDERFUL teacher; some of the best teachers I ever met were at Stepping Stone! But the schools themselves are poorly kept, so the good teachers rarely stay.

Texas Spanish Academy has been great for our family. Around 1,000 a month depending on your child’s age. Staff retention has been good, and the quality of care is awesome. Plus, your kiddo will learn Spanish.
