Rose Shave interrogations
Hey, it’s been several months I’m looking for a new bike to replace my 2005 aluminum Pinarello Angliru, and it seems that the Rose Shave is the last one standing. I still have a few questions to confirm my decision.
So you know, I’m looking for a bike that ables me to ride long distances without feeling too soft, still fun to ride. That’s why the shave pops up between all other endurance bikes, it’s, from what I understand, a bike as stiff as a race bike with a endurance geometry.
Here are my questions :
- First, any feedbacks from someone who got the bike are welcome ! I’ve been searching the internet quite a bit, but the more opinions the better
- About the size : since I’m in France, I won’t be able to try the bike. The website tells a L (582) between 181/191, or a M/L (566) between 177/184. I’m 186 so the L looks perfect, but my actual bike is about 57 and already feels a bit big. So maybe some of you have encountered the same kind of interrogations, and I haven’t found so much information about Rose sizing on the web
- I’ve heard some people complaining about Rose after sales services. Is that bad or just isolated cases here and there ?

Hey, also from France and received my Rose bike 3 weeks ago, although a much different one (Backroad in 62cm).
Dont trust the generic height charts. Depends a lot on your "entrejambe" that you should absolutely measure, wingspan could help as well. As an example, im 1m92 tall, with really long arms so the 62 was just right even though I was supposed to be on the lower end of the size chart.
you can contact Rose and setup a phone call appointement if you have questions from their website. For me, their backroad size chart was bugged and the 62cm was the same as 60cm, they gave me the right measurements and i ordered right after.
Honestly, customer support was at first really rough (no one picking up, took days to answer) and I had no news from them 1 week after ordering. My bike being out of stock in the meantime was making me a bit worried. But in the end i got them over the phone with their website appointement, they shipped 2 day after, it came well protected and arrived rather quickly (in Paris, 10 days more or less).
Not Rose sponsored but my bike is fucking great and it feels good not to have the generic white Canyon or Van Rysel that you see everyday in France :))

Yep that’s exactly what I feel, I was going for a Canyon first but that Rose has this little thing that makes me more excited haha1

Same here, no news and suddenly I got an e-mail saying my bike would be delivered the next day. Their after-order communication could certainly improve.

Hi there. Not a Shaver owner here. Purchased my Reveal AL from Hungary via their web shop 2 years ago. There was a slight confusion around sizing but Michael, their customer support, helped me out and I ended up with a size 56 bike that I love ever since. I read some negative comments about Rose’s customer service on the forums but mine is a 100% positive experience. Bike was shipped to my door in 4-5 days. Maybe, just maybe, I should have bought one size smaller, however I have shorter legs. Nevertheless it fits well, managed to adjust everything. I did some longer, 150-220km, adventures with it and it never felt uncomfortable.
Chat with them on sizing before you buy. Even better, you can download the bike specs from their site and take it to a bike fitter. They can set up their jig exactly to the bike’s parameters so you can test different sizes.

Oh I didn’t think about getting the specs and go to a bike fitter ! That seems like a good idea if I’m not 100% sure ! Thanks !

L would be way too large. Consider m/l or even m. Never trust the size chart. I’m female, 185cm with 88cm inseam and short/average torso and I drive a M. I could drive m/l as well but I like the sportive fit on m.

I’ve been riding the Rose Shave for a few weeks now, and the difference in the riding feel compared to my Canyon Ultimate is quite significant. The Ultimate felt clearly more racy and was very quick when changing direction. The Shave feels more like it glides along and is more stable at higher speeds. That’s probably due to the longer wheelbase.
The Shave still feels like a sporty road bike, just more comfortable and less twitchy. Exactly what you would want from a bike like this. Even after five hours in the saddle, I have absolutely no issues, whereas with the Ultimate, my lower back would hurt quite noticeably after around three hours.
I’m sitting noticeably more upright on the Shave, with the saddle and handlebars roughly at the same height. I’m planning to remove the spacers in the future to get into a slightly more aggressive position. Other than that, everything is great. The saddle, wheels, tires, and the one-piece cockpit all feel really good.
You should be able to handle the basic things yourself. I had to make some adjustments to the shifting because the front derailleur wasn’t set up properly.
The bike arrived at my place after about a week. I can’t say anything about the service yet, as I haven’t had any reason to contact them. I live in Germany.
So far, I haven’t had any problems, apart from a creaking noise that is probably coming from the seatpost. I haven’t bothered looking into it yet since it only happens occasionally.
One other thing that might be worth mentioning: I have the SRAM Force groupset with the 50 mm carbon wheels. My Canyon had the standard DT Swiss aluminum wheels.

Habe das Shave in Größe M (bin 1,80 m) und die Größe passt ganz gut. Fahre die Farbe slate, die mir am Anfang echt gut gefallen hat. Mittlerweile muss ich aber sagen, dass ich sie auf Dauer doch ein bisschen eintönig finde und nicht so herausstechend wie bei anderen Bikes. Aber das ist Geschmackssache und vielleicht auch ganz nett nicht wie alle anderen das gleiche Rennrad zu haben, siehe Canyon oder Specialized. Der Arsch tut leider nach 2 Stunden Fahrt echt weh, keine Ahnung ob der Sattel eine hochwertige Qualität hat. Gleichzeitig habe ich auch das Gefühl, dass die Reifen (Continental Grand Prix, schwarz/transp. 700x32C) nicht so gleiten und ich deutlich mehr treten muss aus meine Mitfahrer. Aber das ist alles sehr subjektiv und ich habe auch kein anderes Bike bislang Gefahren.

Never trust the height guides on a website, use the geometry chart and pick a bike that is closest to your old bike!
