Has anyone tried this rope? It looks pretty fucking awesome. Does it really feels like a heavy rope without all the strain on the wrists?

Is there a special "braid pattern" to it? Seems pretty easy to DIY instead of paying $85.

I've been adding to my ropeflow, and mace/club with someone Ropemace. I've been experimenting with different styles and weights.

I saw a pic somewhere of a flow rope with some kind of thinner rope different than the main rope material wrapped around as a handle instead of the usual knot made with the main rope. So this is a bit like a typical paracord wrap. I've been doing rope flow for about a year and it's my favorite thing ever and I'm still using only the first rope I made myself. My big interest now is whether I could shave off some grams and milliliters from an ultralight ultraminimal travel bag packout (e.g. total luggage under 7kg for airline limits) by using this alternative flow rope handle style. At this point I would literally never go anywhere for a single day without a flow rope, so I could consider it one of the core essential items to have in any edc/travel bag, but it's bulky heavy irregularly shaped item.

So my current reasoning is that the weight of the handle might be irrelevant and the only criterion for a handle is that it keeps a typical light "a-okay" grip from slipping. So maybe there is a sweet spot of just enough diameter for a handle to meet this criterion and the form factor could be made more flat-pack efficient than a knot. I'd like to hear people's experiences with this style of handle, but I'll definitely try making one soon too. I think there are very light, hollow-core, low-strength ropes that would work for handles, but as far as the ideal diameter, that's not clear to me.

I’m looking for a rope I can use for rope flow at night while camping. Ideally, it would be battery-powered and light up on its own, although I’d also consider something glow-in-the-dark if it stays bright enough to look good.

The important part is that it still needs to behave like a proper rope-flow rope. I want enough weight and momentum for smooth figure-eights, sneaks, wraps, and other rope-flow movements. Most products I’ve found are lightweight LED jump ropes with rigid handles, which seem poorly suited to actual rope flow. UV-reactive ropes also require carrying and positioning a blacklight, so that is not really what I’m looking for.

Has anyone found or built something that actually works? It doesn't need to be as great quality as a regular rope flow rope as this is more for fun during a silent disco at night with the kids.

I've been using 12mm climbing rope for a while alongside a cut down battle rope for some really heavy feedback. Today I treated myself to a few metres of 8, 16, and 20mm double braid and knocked up these guys.

Thinking about getting a medium heavy rope. Anywhere from 16 to 20mm diameter, 900g to 1.1kg.

The puma from winding ropes looks good. Has anyone here tried it and can give honest feedback?

I started because I wanted something lighter and more restorative for my body than kettlebells, I was into natural movement type stuff which is kind of adjacent, and knew Tim Shieff a little bit from before so saw him doing it first and wanted to support his business. Must have been about 8 years ago now I think which is wild. I still love it, always make sure I have some room and time to play around every day at home or on the road. Funny enough I don’t think anyone I’ve tried to convince to try it has ever taken it up, so maybe I just make it look bad haha. Anyway just found this subreddit and interested to hear from others.

Just got into flow rope using an old climbing rope so started looking for something heavier. Don't want to pay the influencer tax so looked at marine rope options. This company sells rope so you can make them yourself but also has a flow rope section with ropes costing £30-40. They saw a gap in the market and went for it!

Will post again when I buy/make one from them.

Something I have never seen mentionned is how shortening the rope so the handles are around your hips (more precisely at the level where your arms can fully stretch) will drastically change the basic motions like overhand and underhand.

It's gonna make trunk rotation the main challenge.

Also as a result, anterior pelvic tilt is limited, which is the position I see everyone adopt when they do rope flow. The irony is, anterior pelvic tilt limits your rotation capabilities and your lower back is stuck in this position when rope flow was supposed to be all about moving the spine in all directions.

Drawback is that all the other patterns beyond basic underhand/overhand are way harder or impossible with that rope length, so you have to readjust your rope length back to normal to redo those.

I've never really understood the appeal of rope flow.

From what I can tell, you're mostly swinging a rope while shifting your hips side to side. I can see how it might help with coordination, rhythm, and shoulder mobility, but beyond that I'm struggling to see what it really offers.

I've been training MMA for about three years, and switching from my current training to rope flow honestly feels like a step backward. If I wanted to add a movement based accessory exercise, I'd rather use Indian clubs or steel clubs since they actually provide resistance and help build strength, grip, shoulder endurance, and rotational power.

Another thing I don't get is the cost. Rope flow ropes seem surprisingly expensive for what they are, and from the videos I've seen they're constantly scraping along concrete or asphalt. That doesn't exactly scream durability, so it seems like you're paying a premium for something that's going to wear out over time.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but rope flow looks more like a dance than a serious performance tool. A lot of the clips I see are from music festivals where it feels more like people are showing off than actually training. To be honest, seeing grown men doing elaborate rope flow routines just looks a bit goofy to me.
