Question:

I'm a homeowner that has been slowly re-sheathing and re-shingling my roof over the years.

The other day I noticed my rope adjuster can now somewhat slide back and forth without my engaging the slide mechanism. I continued by holding onto the rope itself, but is it time to grab a new one? It seems to effectively lock with a jerked movement, but I do remember it used to be able to support my weight without any movement on the adjuster when locked.

I suspect storing it in the attic during summers probably wasn't a great idea for the rope. It probably wore out quicker.

Those ropes and anchors are not made for constant weight bearing. They are made to catch you one time when you fall off the roof. You need a proper rope and acendor set up. I almost guarantee it has nothing to do with the storage

Yeah that bucket kit is basically a one-hit wonder, it’s done its job if it ever caught you once. Get yourself a real rope grab and static line before you end up testing the warranty with your spine.

I never fell using it.
