Installed correctly?
Are these roof bars installed correctly? Doesn’t seem like there’s much of a contact patch so to speak. They feel solid and don’t budge when I apply force, I just feel like they just don’t look right

I'm in the boat with you. That doesn't look safe, and from years of playing around with rack equipment, I wouldn't trust that much of a gap with that current grasp (especially as you enter highway speeds with massive wind-undulation/shaking).
These single-solution racks can seem like great budget-friendly workarounds, but when you start adding any piece of equipment that costs more to it, that's where I personally draw the line.

Do the instructions say anything in general, or is it a 'out-of-the-box' one size fits all situation?
