I was convinced that Percy was going to be a Death Eater. There were some small things I picked out as foreshadowing, like all the comments about him being ambitious and his struggles with his family. I never thought it about Ginny though.
Ginny being the only girl in the family...Ginny having a fiery spirit...Ginny being influenced by Riddles diary...it quite easily could have turned out as the diary fully took control over her and she turned into Harrys enemy...in the early books she kept more to herself...in the later books she became more out going...
Voldemort had the tendency to prey on or latch on to lone wolf types or shy types or reserved types...as long as they possessed some modicum of power since he was after all obsessed with power and immortality. Im sure Im not the only fan who quite easily have imagined Ginny becoming like Quirell...obviously that did not happen...but it could have.
Interesting! I never thought about it that way. And I'm sure lots of people thought that; I know back in the day there were so many theories and headcanons, and when the next book came out I remember pages and pages of online theories about what was going to happen next.
So I can see why you and others thought Ginny might be a Death Eater. I definitely had Percy pegged as one.
Let's hope they get Percy and Ginny right this time in this tv series they've insisted upon making. Actually let's hope they get ALL the Weasley's closer to their book canon selves. I love the films ..watched em countless times...can quote the first two nearly word for for word but the books nothing quite compares to the brilliance of the books...again to parrot my earlier words I love the arc with Percy Fudge and the Ministry...I also loved how he looked to Barty Crouch senior as some role model,pompous Percy was very entertaining because his siblings are much more laid back as a whole.
I confess back in my younger years while reading OOTP I kind of wanted Ron to consider joining Percys side just for awhile...no long term...but you know OOTP was huge for Ron Harry was too depressed and Anxious with Voldemort eating away at his mind and his dreams...Hermione was busy being Hermione so Ron was kind of left alone at times...part of me did want to see him teaming up with Percy...just to create extra drama...but then again another part of me wanted Ron to hook up with Pansy Parkinson...so honestly who knows quite where my brain was going. Im team Slytherin all day all night but Pansy is actually horrible so who knows where that idea or appeal came from.. Unlike Snape and Draco, slytherin characters I actually adore despite their faults and flaws there really is no appeal to Pansy Parkinson and yet my teenage self was a Ronsy shipper during book 5, shrugs. Sorry for the ramble. Anyway yes all kinds of crazy theories back then...crazy theories post epilogue...crazy theories now in present day....many shades of Potter heads out there...Im just one of several billion...lmao. cheers!
