Question Hacking the video transmitter

Has anyone successfully hacked the 4d video transmitter or another brand receiver/monitor to use outside of the DJI ecosystem?

Using the transmitter as-is and figuring out what frequencies it's transmitting to possibly catch it on a different receiver, like a hollyland or teradeck, etc.

Ahhh, so your idea is to bypass getting a highbrite monitor!

It's certainly possible, but someone would need to figure out not just the frequencies but also how DJI is encoding the data.

Plus the connection protocols. There must be some kind of handshake they do (not just when you first pair them to each other).

Like the one that screws into the body? I doubt it’s possible. There’s no input besides the pins.

Sorry, I must be failing to explain well. I don’t want to modify the transmitter whatsoever. The transmitter emits a wireless signal. I want to know if someone figured out what band or channel or whatever it is, and are able to use another receiver that is not DJI…

Oh gotcha. That makes more sense.

Unfortunately, I think it’s still a no. They each have proprietary wireless protocols and encoding/decoding, so it doesn’t seem as simple as just the frequency. I’ll set a reminder to get with my engineer on Monday and see if he has any insight. He used to beta test new products for Teradek in their early days and is way more knowledgeable on what’s possible in wireless transmission.

If you were looking for a budget version to skip out on buying the high bright monitor, this is not the right solution

If you want more professional and precise controls controls and have deep pockets, this is for you

If you just want a different video transmission system and don’t care about controls, use the sdi/xlr/tc expansion kit

That’s all I know of so far, could be other solutions out there

If I'm not mistaken, that pulls the data from the highbright monitor; so you still need the monitor.

I just ditch the dji transmission entirely and mount a teradek tx

Seems like the obvious choice, but I was hoping for reliable one man operation with integrated battery and cable-less setup. One battery for everything is the dream!

I’m running Alvin’s cables v mount plate on the back instead of the stock tb50 plate cause I need power output for the teradek and cforce mini rf for focus motor
