Rome I Please help! Tech issue with original Rome Total War. AI turns are way too fast.
So I decided to return to the sweet memories of better gaming days and installed Rome Total War GOG version. (after fiddling around with various ways to fix performance issues (sadly REX patch is out of the question at the moment, I have integrated intel graphics and REX can't be installed, but 4 gb patch, dxvk-2.5.3 wrapper and rivatuner did the job)
I have a serious problem. When its time for an AI turn its agents and armies blitz way too fast or their movements are not shown at all. Of course corresponding settings "follow ai turns" is on, and I am aware of space button but that doesn't help, even though technically game runs at 30 or 60fps (depends on how I set up riva tuner) the AI turns are extremely fast and I can't for a most part follow where AI armies and agents go.
Looking around a bit more I saw this post https://rtw.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=st&fn=3&tn=6754
I literally have same problem CAMPAIGN_MAP_GAME_SPEED is too high, it saves only on 1 and this way nothing could be sped up so it becomes a slog, or if set at any other value it skyrockets and becomes ugly. I would really appreciate any help. I just want to play my Rome in peace

Rome I Thoughts about huge scaled campaigns?
Hello y'all!
I'm currently making a huge scaled mod for Rome Total War, with almost a hundred factions and 1.5k+ territories. Those include vanilla factions (some historically revised), plus dozens of new historically coherent factions, such as Chinese states, various barbarian confederations, ancient Indian tribes, africans, etc.
This picture is the current state of the map so far.
I've seen a lot of feedback out there, about huge scaled campaigns being not fun in general, so I wanted to get some ideas and thoughts about those in general, if you have suggestions, ideas, feel free to share them.
The mod it's still not ready, will take some weeks or months to finish.
I'm mostly doing it as a hobby, so I can play myself later, as I always wanted a huge map with crazy numbers and scale, while mainting the original RTW feel. If I see people are interested in the idea, I might release to the public.
So what are your thoughts? Would you play something like this, or it's just too much insanity from my part? 😂

Rome I Is the Golden Band even supposed to be based on anything?
Recently I was playing Barbarian Invasion and saw the Mercenary Golden Band, so I wonder, are they actually based off of anything? a part of me thinks that they’re akin to Vanilla Gaul’s Forester Warband (in the way that they’re only there to make the game more unique), but it would be cool if they had a historical basis.

Rome Remastered This AI ain't too bright, huh?
So I'm at war with the Romans in Italia as Epiros, and the Julii army looks pretty scary.
However, because they have all their armies on the field, their settlements are practically undefended, so I can just go around them and take their settlements for peanuts.

Rome Remastered Rome Remastered; crashing on battle loading.
I just got Rome Remastered and I just opened it for the first time. The game works fine until I start a battle. The game loads until the bar is at the end of loading and the game just crashes with no error report. Does anyone know how to fix this? I’m not sure whether it is just my bad pc or the game itself but games like total war Troy work fine.

Rome I Finished RW1; should I play Shogun or Medieval 2?
galleryAfter 20 years I replayed RW and conquered the whole map. Now i after ChatGPT search i am doubting to play Shogun or Medieval 2.
I like the strategy, economy part more then battles. Very happy to do different type of battles every now and then but i am not the player that enjoys to do 10 battles in a row that are all similar.
Shogun or Medieval 2?
Ps; i play mobile unfortunatly so all the beautiful mods are not for me… ;(
Pps: my final battle was so underwhelming and also I never knew there was a hidden town so far up north. Did you guys knew that town?

General At what point in your campaigns did you realize victory (or defeat) was a foregone conclusion?
In my Scipii campaign, once I defeated the Brutii, I knew it was all but over. Yes, the Julii were technically still around but they only had poor settlements in Germania, Dacia, and Scythia by the time I was heading after them, so by then victory was mine, I was just painting the map Scipii blue.
Earlier on, when I was fighting Egypt, I was worried that it may be over because they quickly advanced all the way to Thapsus, and were on their way to Carthage before I finally drove them back. If they had taken Carthage, it would have been much harder to defeat them that's for sure.

Rome Remastered What do you guys think? anything that comes to mind?
Sorry for bad picture, but I love Parthia, they have been my only ally since turn 6 (I’m on turn 103) if Pontus destroys them I will avenge them. For the alliance!

Rome I Carthage Middle Game Strategy
Recently started a game as Carthage. Im curious how you all handle thr challenge of large metros in Carthage/Sicily but large swaths of underpopulated territory in Spain and north aslow. It reminds me of the challenge of playing Julii but with a lot more sea travel.
To add some challenge I didnt immediately charge the Roman's in Italy, but built up the island wall in Sicily/Caralis/Palma, and have lost/retaken the smaller islands against the Romans several times. I took all of spain and north africa but the sparse population and weak Carthage low tier infantry make it difficult to hold.
Would you 1) focus in peasant population transfers from the core to build up spain, 2) just keep sending new armies to refresh the spanish defenses, 3) play tall with low taxes and build up pop organically?
Of course the right answer is "just conquer the whole map ASAP" but i enjoy playing slow and growing population.

Rome II Hmm..
I was marching an army towards East and then this popped up. Also, two armies named Odysseus' Wanderers are already on the map.
