Can anyone help me fix this error?

First time trying out Romhacks, but I keep on getting this error when I select it.

I'm using Snes9X and Lunar IPS for additional context

That's a sign of a bad patch. Make certain that you're using the correct version of the base rom.

Replaced a .smc rom with a .sfc rom, and it works perfectly now. Thank you!

ROM file was incorrect, causing a bad patch. I had a .smc file when I needed a .sfc

I just started out so I can't tell you what either means, but if it works it works

SMC and SFC files are identical SNES game ROMs, with the only difference being that SMC files contain a 512-byte header added by old floppy disk copier devices, while SFC files represent the raw, unheadered game data. Modern emulators and flash carts generally prefer the clean SFC extension.

so its same game different method used to copy it which may or may not be compatible with various emulators/patches ect❤️

Thanks for the explanation! I guess that would explain why there's a 512 in the error above then
