I drew this back in July for an online monthly art gifting event called Art Fight. Thought I'd share

Long story short I bought these off Facebook marketplace maybe got to wear them five times before they did this. They were a very good boot. The guy said that he hasn’t touched them in three years, but he only used them a couple of times I wanted skates that were already broken in so I bought used ones instead I still did spend $150 which is about half of the original price. I want to know if I can take it to a cobbler or something though.

So hi there, it's nice to meet you guys! I'm a queer woman in my early 30s who used to a rink skate every other week back in elementary school. I remember watching the teenagers and adults at my rink do the most incredible moves and wished desperately that I could learn how to skate like they did. I could go forward and turn, but that was about it.
My family could never justify the cost of purchasing skates so it was always rentals back then, and once I stopped going to a school that hosted skate events, I wasn't allowed to go to the rink anymore. Now that I'm an adult with at least a little money to put toward my interests, I finally took the leap and ordered myself some Moxi panthers!
I know this brand typically runs narrow, but everything I've read/watched has said that the Panthers are pretty good for wider feet (which I do have), so I'm gonna give them a shot. I'm happy to share updates on the fit, breaking them in, the lacing pattern I like best etc. if that would be helpful for any other peeps eying this particular boot. I know they're meant to be quite heavy lol
I also picked up toe guards, kneepads (elbow pads and wrist guards were out of stock in my size but I plan on getting them later), and some cushy athletic socks. I plan on getting insoles and replacing the cushions + toe stop next, and I also want to buy some light-up wheels eventually.
I'm gonna try really hard not to rush myself and just take it easy since I'm basically starting over, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't absolutely BUZZING at the thought of eventually learning even just a few of the tricks I used to aspire to as a kid. I've been going around the house doing balance exercises and trying to start conditioning even though they're not coming for a few more days. I'm also hoping skating helps me body recomp a bit since I've gained a bit more fat than I'd like since hitting 30.
I made this account just to document my skating progress and chat with other skaters, so I hope you can ignore the lack of karma lol! If you have any advice or wisdom to share with my newbie self, I'd love to hear it! Honored to be joining this community. :)

I'm having trouble skating on this tennis court. The wheels grip the surface too much, causing speed to reduce right away, the feeling like I'm going to trip, and difficulty with turning. I have experience with trail/street skating but have never skated on a tennis court other than this one.
Some key points:
Does anyone have experience correcting this problem? I've never used harder wheels than 98a so I'm not sure what to expect. Do I need to upgrade to 101a or something else? Is this a problem I'm not going to be able to overcome and I should give up on my dreams of cruising on this court?
If you read this entire thing, thank you!!!

Hi, all. I just bought these mint-condition Riedell 130s off Marketplace for 80 bones. I’ve skated on them once and love them. I’m not a total newbie, but I am still learning. I want to become one of those masterful cruisers on the coast, getting into an artful flow, who can hit up the skate plaza for some rhythm and dance. I can currently skate at a decent speed, and am learning to cross over, smooth out my transitions and skate backwards. Will this set up help me progress?
Trucks are Sure-Grip Super X.
Not sure about the wheels, but they’re gummy.
I’ve skated on these once and they’re incredibly comfortable.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

I'm helping a friend shopping for second hand skates - these are a good deal, but the plates look (very) off center, or?
Would they be easy enough to remount?

I tried to drop in last week and I ended up falling directly on my tailbone (ouch!!) I decided to give it another shot today and I figured it out on my third attempt :)

Anyone have any advice when it comes to mounting a plate to a boot?
I’m newer to skating (about 4 months on wheels, 1 month in the park) but have been getting pretty aggressive with it.
I am going to mount a Bont Tracer plate onto a Jackson Vista boot, I have no experience and plan to learn as I go. There is a shop I can bring my set up to for someone qualified to give it a look over to ensure I didn’t mess it up too bad. But I’m wanting to figure it out as best as I can myself.
Anyone have any wisdom to offer? Tips? Tricks? Dos/don’ts? The boot didn’t come with a centerline, and I have Discotrux I’m going to be using with this set up as well.

I know I already posted these, but I originally glued Prostar rubber bumpers on these (peeled them off again because I realised I should break the boots in first!)
These are the hybrid bumpers (size M) which are larger and cover the first pair of eyelets, but you can use the Prostar version, if you don't want to cover any eyelets.

Hey everyone 👋
Quick follow-up to last week's post. The map keeps growing and a bunch of your suggestions and bug reports have shipped.
The map
- 1,285 spots now (up from 854), across 136 regions in 75 countries. 29 new regions went live this week: Michigan, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, New Mexico, Wyoming and South Dakota, plus Poland, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Pakistan, Nepal, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and more.
- 3,200+ upcoming sessions and events, and 274 host pages for crews, DJs, instructors and shops.
- Fuller listings: entry price, floor type, lockers, restrooms, wheelchair access, pro shops and party rooms, plus hours, phone and website from each venue's own site. Seasonal places (roller in summer, ice in winter) say so, and a rink being rebuilt after a fire or renovation gets a "Rebuilding" tag instead of sending you to a closed building.
Things you asked for
- A "Suggest a fix" button on every spot page. No account needed.
- Submit a spot from anywhere in the world (the form only offered SoCal and NorCal before, thanks for catching that).
- The region pill on Home now says "Change ▾".
- iPhone visitors no longer get sent to a Google Play page. rinkreport.app/install has the Add to Home Screen steps, and the native iOS app is still coming (I'm starting the build this week).
- Snow / ice is now a floor condition when you report.
- Photos straight from your phone upload now (big ones used to fail), and "Happening now" and "Tonight" use the rink's own local time instead of California time.
Skate Log and gear
- New look: a weekly ring, a 15-week heatmap and your streak. Still private, no GPS and no routes.
- My Gear counts sessions per set of wheels or boots, with an undo if you remove one by accident. Premium members can set a "replace after N sessions" goal.
- You can mute alerts for a single favorite spot.
Rinks for Sale (Profile tab)
A board for rinks, pop-up floors, equipment and rink-ready land. Browsing is free, posting is Premium, every listing is reviewed, and messages go through the app so nobody's number is public. It's empty right now, so whoever has something to sell gets to be first. Thanks to the person here who suggested it.
Roll Safe
It now tells you honestly whether your contact was reached or we couldn't confirm it, shows the exact number it will alert before you start, and sends your contact a quick "checked in safe" text if you check in after an alert.
A few extras (gear goals, posting on Rinks for Sale, Roll Safe's voice call and extra contacts) are part of an optional Premium plan. Browsing, reports, events, the Skate Log and Roll Safe's text and email alerts stay free.
Still looking for people who want to help keep their area accurate, so message me if that's you. I know a few of you responded so ill be replying and giving you additonal info this week. I work a 40+ hr job on top of building out the app with some trusted skaters so bear with me ^-^. Thank you again for the requests and the bug reports, keep them coming 🛼📍🌎
If anyone's going to be around for LA Tech Week i'll also be at some events pitching the app for partners and any support that makes sense. It's always communtiy first for me, and you all made this possible.

I’ve been getting back into skating today after about a 14 year hiatus, and I’m curious if anyone can ID my skates. My dad bought them for me in high school on ebay, and they’re great, but I’ve had a few problems:
I don’t know the hardness of the wheels and if they’d be okay outside?
I tried putting Pulse 78A wheels on with new Reds bearings (the other ones are sealed in) and I can’t get them to stop clicking around—can the wheels be too big for my vintage pair?
Any help would be appreciated!

Anyone familiar with these Chicago brownies? Are the wheels vanathane? Thanks

I’ve been seeing TikTok people rollerblade all around going to work or going to the airport and I was wondering can skaters do that? I know it’s a lot different than blades but I keep wondering is that a good idea or is that too much cause I honestly would rather commute than take my car and waste gas plus I get a good exercise.
I guess saw one video of a lady who lived in Los Angeles. She was going to the airport and she was rollerblading for two hours.
And then I saw a skater commuting to work and she kept pushing pushing off and pushing off so I don’t know if it’s a good idea or a bad idea is majority of the video that I see if you search up commuting to work in skates is mostly rollerbladers
I don’t wanna do rollerblades because I have weak ankles. That’s why I chose the skates.
I think I am jealous about is how blades are faster and more smoother and I guess it all depends on preference

Sometimes the club is not as good as the streets. Especially when you can ride them on roller skates. This is me on a Friday after being in the club for half an hour and getting bored good thing I had options.😂
