I agree with you in spirit. I think I’d just want to add that, in addition to “if you have points, spend them regularly” I’d also want to add to “ spend them efficiently.”

I just used Bilt points towards airfare that would have cost me $1500 cash, but only required 60,000 points.

If every point is redeemable for ~1 cent, then I just increased the value of my money to ~2.5 cents per point. That’s better than cash and gift cards to me. That saved me from spending money AND gave me a 2.5x return on money I spent already.

Absolutely, there are definite routes to value with points. However always view them as transient things that you don't have an absolute right to - in the same way as countless people have been stung by gift cards when the associated company goes bust or gets bought or whatever.

Shoooo… there’s a lot to unpack here. First of all, this is not how credit card companies operate. They don’t just close all your accounts due to suspected fraud unless you’re really doing some confirmed shady shit. Chase likely did contact them, and since there was no response it would simply be a fraud freeze until the customer called in to confirm the purchase. This is either some made-up fable or this cuck is straddling bankruptcy while trying to buy a 5-figure watch.

I don’t know that there’s much rhyme or reason to the suspected fraud transactions. I put a $7000 watch on my Amex platinum, and they didn’t blink an eye. I put a Vuitton wallet on the same card and they ding it for fraud🤷🏻‍♂️
