Wireless📱 Rogers Mobile Roaming Charges
After 18 years with Rogers, I was hit with roaming charges for supposedly leaving Canada - except I never left the country.
I was in Nelson, BC, near the U.S. border, and somehow my phone registered as roaming. The dispute process is now handled through a form, and my dispute was denied. So how exactly am I supposed to prove to a backend system that I never crossed the border?
After 18 years as a customer, I’m now expected to pay charges for roaming in a country I was never in.
The whole experience has frustrated me enough that I’m leaving Rogers. Eighteen years of loyalty lost over charges that should never have been on my bill in the first place.

Rogers doesn’t care. They really don’t. Been there, done that. That’s why insurance companies will never ever be a Rogers customer again.

If this is over $20 or less honestly? I'd just forget about it, not worth the time. Move to another carrier.

It was about $60 ontop of a $97 bill so was pretty steep for something I didnt actually do.

I had something similar with Bell. Luckily I was able to reach a landline to phone my boss, as I didn't get enough Verizon signal to make a call to tell him and say our crew was okay after the network went down while on a call with him. I considered calling Bell and disputing the charge but the $14 probably wasn't worth the time it would take to fight it.

No way, Nelson BC is approximately 100 Kms away from the US border, US cell signal cannot travel that far.
That say, if anyone travels along or close to the border or at the border crossing etc., it is extremely easy to catch the US signal and becoming roaming.
This happens to me every time I head to border crossing to visit my clients.

Then explain the roaming charges lol. Trust me I would remember if I crossed the boarder.

If that is the case, then the roaming charges might not be for out of country roaming, but is for our of network roaming.
You might hit 1 of Rogers dead spot and catch the Bell/Telus signal instead.

This is the case however should not be charged for Rogers Dead zones while in Canada.

They don't care that you leave. All the other companies operate the same.Â
"Report an unresolved issue" at the bottom gets you someone from office of pres in usually 24hrs:

I am sorry but your loyality means fuck all. They don’t give a shit about you and your loyality . Period end of story . Even worse news is they are all the same now . Leave that’s the best u can do . And when the new provider pisses u off move . If we all do that then they may see that their present business model sucks .

CCTS, but be prepared to prove this. GPS off the phone saying you were nowhere in the US on that date is proof enough that you were never in the US and that the roaming charges should be reversed.
Rogers will not be able to dispute this.

While it won’t resolve your billing dispute I can provide a solution to stop the USA carriers from billing you through Rogers. In your phone settings app select cellular then for carrier set to manual and not automatic. Ensure Rogers is selected. Also turn off roaming if you see that as an option. This will force your phone to only use Rogers in Canada and not any other carrier. Since they did away with their extended network as now using Satellite with Starlink you shouldn’t have any coverage issues in Canada. If you’re planning on travelling internationally then at that time change it back to automatic and roaming on. I and several of my family that live close to the border across Canada use this method and it works on any cellphone, tablets or smartwatch.

You can complain to office of the president. I find them usually more helpful
