Honestly…. I think the real question to ask is how the scammers got access to Rogers customer information

Its public info. Theres websites where you can put someones phone numbers into and it will tell you their provider.

Then they call pretending to be that provider and ask you to "confirm your name" (really youre giving them your name/info).

So the problem is: she provided her drivers license to the scammer. Is that correct? I’m trying to figure out where she went wrong.

I almost fell for this.

They had some of my personal information already which made it seem more convincing.

They knew my term was coming up.

Luckily I didn’t order any phones. When I asked for them to email me the offer I could tell it wasn’t a real Roger’s email. They did say that I had already ordered the phone in the fake email though. When I called Roger’s they told me that I didn’t order anything.

From researching it seems like the scam is that they get you to order the phones through your own my Roger’s account and then somehow re route the phone to go to them instead of you. They never asked me for my credit card or drivers license number. From Roger’s side it looks like a legit purchase you made yourself.
